Reads the news on 3AW

Often struggles. Said the swans were playing NZ last week. Not a journo in any sense of the word just reads it off the Teleprompter ala Ron burgundy

I tend to think we have, not cap related as much as squad size related. We're looking at bringing in two players minimum in trade/fa and still have to draft at least three (plus rookies). Of the eight senior listed players there two to three will probably retire, one might have free agency offers, one is homesick. None of the remainder have starting 22 plays so their survival hinges more on whether somebody contracted (Goldstein/Swallow/Thomas/Anderson for example) is moved on, delisted or retained. Most lists I'd imagine are in similar spots but it's always a little more magnified when a side is bottom of the table and in the first year of a rebuild (or as we've charmingly tagged it, the 'aggressive reset').

Correct me if I'm wrong too but nobody from North has said that we have been waiting on incumbents before signing these guys or even intimated what the future is for them. That's media fodder, and media fodder has spurred all of this talk.
We dont care about your list....

Still don't understand why people think posting random nobodies tweets carry some kind of validation.

If you guys get Dusty, fair play, he's awesome. But one answer I haven't gotten from a North supporter is, other than Dusty being awesome and the fact he will sell you guys some merch - why would you do the deal. There is gaps all over your roster, the quality other than Brown isn't really there, although some of your kids will be decent AFL players. He will be 27 next year and you will waste his prime while you "aggressively rebuild" over the next few years. One top of that for 1.5 mil he will not give you any of the off-field promotional stuff you would expect for that type of investment and what your club needs.

This feels like an AMA :D

My answer to this is we all know our lists better than anybody else. I'm not a self proclaimed footy expert but I rarely miss a game and can be overly analytical and the one serious issue I see with North is that the midfield is abhorrent but a lot of that has to do with the fact we don't have a single elite player in there. Our forward line I believe to be very good and our defence has some superb players mixed now with fresh faces but in both instances they are let down by an unaccountable midfield. A true star like Dusty or/and Kelly (we can all dream) affords a flow on effect... it means Cunnington has some more space, it means Ziebell can finally move forward. A gun like Dusty makes everybody step up under way less pressure and it means the junior players can learn their craft with more freedom. Two of those players makes it even easier and whether that is a Josh Kelly or Hopper or Cam Rayner in two seasons (there is zero expectation Dusty makes us a premiership contender immediately I can assure you, but he does lessen the window at the bottom aggressively) then I get it. We're likely gonna finish bottom but erase the last six weeks of junk time when we knew it was done and dusted (but still beat Melbourne again) before that we lost five games by under a goal and another three by under twenty points. We belted one of the premiership favourites. There are clearly things that work at the club and things that do not.

Off field can probably be simplified even more. We don't need Dusty to be the voice of the club because that is what captains are for but the value of a guy like him as the face of the club is enormous. I get the cliche of the lolnorf you won't even be in Melbourne in five years stuff but surely that's not a thing people really think about (surely). We have a more than adequate platform to build from. 40k members used to be excellent for big clubs ten years ago, we've developed a solid community spirit with the Huddle and the no pokies initiative, we have reduced our debt to a number that will be eradicated by the end of the year, our facilities are high quality and we are now committed to a standalone VFL side and a womens side. We aren't ever going to be a big club but we can be next rung if we stick to what we are doing successfully off season and bring in a guy like Dusty to play like a stud and look like a stud when needed for a promotional opportunity. Plus he's durable as ****.

I'm a North supporter and I think Dusty is the best player in the league. I love watching him. And every club in the league is a serious business and North is not excepted from that. I think we can see an all encompassing impact Dusty can have whether the guy has a word to say or not. It's not like he is the spokesperson for Richmond either, he is the face and the tatts and just a gun.

I apologise for the length of that but despite the fact I've grown a massive soft spot for the Tigers over the last few seasons and some of your posters are some of my most favourite people in the world (join the Sweet FA) I still love North above all and hope to put forward an understanding of why we are in this. It's just business and sometimes the have nots have to take a punt. None of us know how that will pay out. If Dusty is a loyal man he stays and if he is a mercenary he leaves, there's no argument between any of us that stops that. Regardless of that you guys have shown me plenty of respect and I hope I'm doing the same on your forum.

Considering we have had him since first drafted and he would have given us what, 13 plus years of fantastic performance..i would be more then happy with it.

Unarguable. I hope I've covered some more points elsewhere.

Not sure I like the serious, sentimental filthy :p

Cause he is a juda$ :D

The furies are just thankful you didn't target their CHF for this year.

We have offered 1.5 million ClarkeMonies over five seasons. It's in his court.
