There is something called freedom of association and restraint of trade. Your prohibition is completely illegal

Remember we are talking about the player not the agent. So I disagree. Through the agent restraint of trade hasn't occurred.
But, in business ethics you would be aware of a thing called collusion where parties in the same industry can meet and set pricing which is illegal. In the case of players meeting clubs before their contract expires while they are currently under contract elsewhere in order to drive a price up or price a competitor out of the game, that could be deemed illegal practices as well. I guess there's a few ways to look at it ethically.

you mean last season when he finished 3rd in the brownlow?
However last year is also proof that Dusty isn't going to carry a shit team straight to finals. ;)

However he was still bloody brilliant last year in a shit side.

Norf have very few good senior players though
Sadly the only senior player we had last year that didn't shit bricks was Alex Rance. Hence why we finished 13th instead of in the top 8.

I do get where you're coming from though. At the end of last year Dusty would have commanded 850-950k, this year he's shot into another stratosphere but I think he'd still be this good in a north or Carlton or Brisbane, so still commanding over $1m a season.

1) price setting is not what your describing

2) there is nothing illegal about maximizing your wage via negotiation

3) you cannot stop people interviewing for a job, because thats what you are describing - not price fixing

4) if you have ever applied for a job while employed, youre a hypocrite

Signed up until 2019.

I had a look at their 2018 out of contract list and their isn't a single player that would seriously interest me.

Richmond Players Out of Contract in 2018

Bachar Houli - Nope
Benjamin Griffiths- Nope
Connor Menadue- Nope
Corey Ellis- Nope
Dylan Grimes- Nope
Jack Graham- Nope
Jayden Short- Nope
Reece Conca- Nope
Ryan Garthwaite- Nope
Sam Lloyd- Nope
Shai Bolton - Possibly, but I doubt the trade would make it worthwhile.
Shaun Hampson- Nope

No wonder they are moving heaven & earth to keep Martin.

Here is old mate Snakes review of our list. Whilst I agree with some.....

He wouldn't take Grimes? Graham? Garthwaite? And doesn't think Bolton that the trade would be worth it......

Good times.

In years past I've had dealings with a few outlaw bikers including one in Sydney who went from the Comancheros to the Hells Angels - he changed because he went into a business venture with a Hells Angel.

Did he survive?

A lot of oppos dont rate Grimes. He is a very underated player, mr reliable and an integral part of our defence.

LOL about how shit lolnorf are

Rounds 3-23 ( 20 games ) lolnorf had 16 games against sides who were bottom 10 at the time of playing them
( 9-9-12-12-1-17-10-16-5-12-9-14-14-4-10-7-13-13-11-18 )

lolnorf also had the 6th oldest side overall in the AFL in 2017

easiest in season draw and one of the oldest sides and they finish 6-16, future not looking bright.

be very careful what you wish for dusty

EDIT: also forgot to add that lolnorf had the 3rd worst defense and they played mostly against bottom 10 sides, now thats shit.

Wouldn't have seen much of them play, Grimes would be their best defender IMO so when people speak absolute rubbish there is no point engaging.

The more it gets complciated the more I believe he's staying. If it was as simple as our offer is a take it or leave it one, and he was leaving, it'd be done.

Obviously dusty wants to get more money from us and stay. If he wanted the $1.5m it's not the table and he can take it. The protracted negotiations only make sense if he wants to stay but wants more cash. They don't make any sense if he wants to go to North- he'd be gone as he knows we aren't going as high as $1.5M.

The whole time it's felt like we knew he wouldn't go and Dusty is trying to bluff us into thinking he may so we get serious at the negotiating table.
That's right.

We simply cannot let LOL Norf set the salary price for Dusty. Matching not an option.

Houli Grimes Graham Bolton would walk into that side.
Graham and Bolton are both better than all of their kids. They wish they had kids with that level of talent. Lol

As for Houli and Grimes. Their back six are part of their problem.

wed never match

but im sure if we upped our offer from 1.1 to say 1.2 *which i always thought was our final offer value, atleast it was being bandied around here as the number until the media started saying we were 400k behind norths offer.* hed probably take it.

we simply cant afford to lose him on the cusp of a real tilt at repeated finals success.

You seem to be a little tense today Ned. You ok?
It is price fixing. Absolutely it is. It comes down to the "intent" of the negotiations.
If you think it's ok to be actively talking to other parties in person while you are employed elsewhere then that's your perogative. I disagree with it. Tell you what, i'll go talk to my boss and tell him i'm gonna go talk to the opposition and see if i can get a better wage and drive my price up. Because that's my right. Let's see how i go ;)
