So stoked Dusty re-signed!

One thing I've been really proud about Richmond in terms of list management over the past few years is our player retention. While we haven't landed many big fish, we've kept our guns (besides Lids, but we got a good deal out of that)

I'm extremely optimistic about the next 7 years with our superstar #4
#34*

Its a relief that it is finally done. I couldn't even consider who I might have liked to come to us in 2018 with this in question, no 2 players from other clubs could have replaced him. With us he can concentrate on playing football with media commitments minimized and managed by the club. At North his off field responsibilities would have been huge.

Roll on finals of 2017, we just picked up 2 goals a game.

At least we can now watch the Brownlow without feeling jilted like an ex gf is getting remarried ,

Nah I'm just thinking that poor bastard

You're right about Barrett but I reckon dusty was closer to walking than a lot on here would care to admit.

Was gonna reply but rfc sums it up. Carr was talking but a shy guy like Dusty who knows what Richmond has done for him and has a strong loyalty streak (see sticking by Carr/Connors etc) was never leaving.

yes and no

Ive said this before, but there are four versions of "truth" in most player trade scenarios

1) those from the current club
2) those from the target club
3) those from the manager
4) those from the player

all four have been known to lie, and strategically leak info to push negotiations a certain way, especially managers.

Part of the job with being a mail man on a forum like this is vetting the weight and the agendas possibly behind the info you have gotten. Phillyroo didnt do this, he acted like an arrogant **** assuming his source was 100% bang on. it ignored what was happening with the other parties though

just look at this story. the manager was saying go to north, the player rejected that. North would have received messages primarily from Carr, so no shit they would have been optimistic and confident the $1.5m was enough. Its ignores however what weight martins view was having. this is the point Tiger71 made and was roundly condemned for on your board.

BTW, Im not saying its all perfect here for sources by any means. For all the laughs about the Treloar thing, Ive spoken to people on here who had mail at the time, and people at the club since. I know why they were confident because the detail they all used as evidence was identical, and TBH I would have bet my house on it if i had that mail. So why were they wrong? They didn't know the pies had not lodged their last and final offer, which drastically changed shit

phillyroo is copping shit not because he was wrong, but because of the way he went about it, and offering up stupid $20k bets.
brilliantly put

Just got back from a week overseas, did not have Wi-Fi, anything been happening at the club? :D
Dusty made AA, won some player of the year awards, saw his dad, lol'd some norf, getting ready for finals really

I think bar a few individuals on either side, the two boards have handled this pretty well, lots of mutual respect.

In saying that, the line from norf that they single-handedly drove dusty's price up from 850k - 1.1/1.2m is pretty funny, not like he won a brownlow during that period or anything :D

Geez, think how many years we have of having two brownlow medallists front up at the centre bounce for us, delicious.
