If true, which it's probably all bullshit.... Then he desperately wants to stay a tiger. I'm sure a negotiation can be completed. Send Balme and co over there tomorrow and figure this shit out.

The thing that we all need to be prepared for, is we will lose a Vlastuin type player in all this.
If we lose flossy over all this I will be ropeable. He'll be just as important to us as Dusty by the end of his career I expect.

Gotta love this mornings HS clickbait. All i have read is at $1.5 let him go. Don't match it. And that's accross multiple forums. Is there any chance they will get something right one day?

Not even close.
Not in the midfield or forward line, but I think he'll be very important to our backline. My point is vlaustin is a good player at 23/24 he'll be better by the end of his career. I don't want to lose him or a player like him due to Dusty's contract.

Yes players like dusty are super important to your team and winning flags but it's the next level down from him that determine whether or not you're going to win premierships. Players like dusty can't do it on their own. Something north will find out the hard way if he signs with them.

On 3aw sports report just then they said Dusty is going to meet with North players before making a decision. Really, we are gonna let our player meet with opposition clubs during a finals campaign? If it did happen i would be furious at our club for allowing it. How inappropriate is that?

If true then start cleaning out his locker.

To me this whole saga is done and dusted in the next 48hrs.

He gets back from NZ and they hold a presser or announce it through the club he's signing on or he delays "talks" to after finals and he walks.

Regardless, we will need to be ready to either embrace or distance ourselves from the dusty show and see if we can't try notch some finals wins while he's here.

Unfortunately we have to play by Carr's rules.

Honestly I'm over it anyway.

I think he's gone, and I'll boo the shit out of him next year and hope we rough him up a bit in our match against North, however I'll support him this finals campaign and hope to God it doesn't disrupt the rest of the team too much.

It's because Norf rang up Dustin and played this song over the phone

Easy Tiger,not over yet.

Dusty loves Richmond.

If he does go I wonder he's ready for all the boos he's going to cop from the Tiger army for the next 7 years.

He's going to be torn up inside...

Bullshit. People are just making shit up.

The last thing Stevo remembers after approaching Shane Martin for a comment about the contract discussion.

The biggest problem I have is what this will do to all the Richmond supporting kids out there if he does happen to leave. I know for one my 8 year old son will be absolutely devastated. Every day he gets home from school and asks me if Dusty has signed with Richmond yet. His bedroom wall is plastered with Dusty in his Richmond gear. He idolises this bloke. He said to me yesterday, which took me by surprise, 'Dad, money isn't everything you know'.

I kid you not, it was their sports reporter who said it.
The club needs to grow a set of balls and get on top of this.
There's too much at stake for this circus.

Let's win the flag,Dusty already a Richmond Brownlow medalist on his name for all eternity unless the umpires are truly corrupt,we all know what happened in 1974 when we were everyones grand final,KB should have won it but the umps gave it to Norf lolz.

You can't fault this logic:

As a football club to make your name at, it doesn’t get any better than the Tigers – Dusty can be the biggest fish in the biggest pond. The fan base is huge and growing all the time, which guarantees big crowds, lots of coverage and plenty of column space and headlines.

While the dollars to play may be less, the gap will be more than made up with appearances, merchandising and product endorsements, not to mention the massive amount of doors that swing open when Martin’s career ends.

He may not be the type to go into the media, but offers will come from everywhere just to have Dusty associated with whatever people are selling, and that’ll last him a lifetime. So in the long run he won’t lose financially by staying at Punt Road.

It seems strange to try and sell Richmond to anyone based on potential premierships, but the Tigers are well in the window.

They may have surprised a lot of people this year but it’s now four finals series in the last five seasons – on a par with Geelong and Hawthorn with only Sydney having done better – and it has been done with a genuinely young team.

Dusty isn’t going to single-handedly put North Melbourne in flag contention, and if he’s being paid $1.5 million a year then the Roos’ efforts to build a premiership list will be seriously ******ed.

There’s no doubt the Tigers succeed in the success consideration

It’s all about the dollars at Arden Street, which also seems like a strange thing to say, but the Roos have got form.

North Melbourne was flagless until 1975 – the last club in the VFL to win a premiership, but this was the days before the salary cap was introduced, and the early seventies saw the Kangas go on a spending spree the likes of which had never been seen in Australian rules football.

So they know that money talks.

However, this time they want to put all their eggs in one basket, and it’s Dusty’s basket and it’s a big, big basket.

The reported $1.5 million a year is approximately $400,000 over Richmond’s best offer.

$400 grand! A year! Not long ago that in itself would have been the highest wage in the competition.

Over a seven year contract it’s just short of three million dollars – that’s an entire block of flats that could keep Dusty financially secure for a lifetime – and it’s just the difference in offers!

I haven’t used this many exclamation marks in a long time, but North Melbourne is shouting MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! at Martin so loud that we all can’t help but listen.

If it’s all about the moolah then the Roos will be welcoming a new Brownlow medalist to the club in the next couple of months.

An extra $2.8 million dollars over the next seven years is hard to rule out and it’s no surprise Martin is taking plenty of time to think.

The trip to New Zealand to chat with father Shane will be crucial in his decision, and a lot of people believe old-man Martin will tell his boy to chase the dough, but don’t take it as written.

Shane’s shady past has many thinking money is the only thing he hears, but the single most important part of a biker’s life is loyalty.

Richmond has stuck fat with Dusty over his career so far, letting him test the waters last time his contract was up for renewal before welcoming him back.

They closed ranks around him during the ‘chopstick incident’ and quietly but firmly told the world their man had been unfairly tried and sentenced.

The Tigers haven’t just allowed Martin time off to visit his father, they’ve encouraged and facilitated it at every opportunity.

We all understand that in the modern football world ‘loyalty’ is a word that has been redefined, and that players owe clubs little and vice versa.

But if there’s one exception to the rule it’s the way Richmond has treated Dustin Martin, and if there’s one player above all others to who this matters it’s Dustin Martin.

Expect him to stay at Tigerland for the rest of his beautiful career.

Not much of a problem if internally the players have some idea he's staying. Which is what all the info we have heard is.

for me its simple by the letter of the law he is a drug cheat. but his club sold him up the river and he was made to swallow a hell of a lot of shit. i don't know him so if he went out looking to cheat but the stats back up his juicing form and non juicing form
He was captain, and a seasoned campaigner, he had been through the education sessions , he could have said no , others did, has he returned the medal yet?

Everyones getting their knickers in a twist over media speculation. Dusty has always said his decision will be at the end of the season. Carr said a few weeks ago he presumes end of home and away. Dusty trusts his old mans judgment. Dusty Carr and Dustys old man will sit down and discuss the offers in NZ. Hopefully ours is good enough for him to stay.
