Meanwhile on the radio Wankley.

”What do you make of the Dusty and Hardwick meeting?”

”Nothing” replied Brad Johnson and Gerard Healy.

Wankley desperate to remove Dusty.

Such a Cats boy’s club knob.

That's the best balanced of the more plausible trade scenarios I've seen. If the Dusty trade DID happen, I reckon that's what it would look like.

But I still highly doubt any trade will happen, at least before the end of next season.

I would really like Richmond to offer Dusty a contract extension right now though.

But the $1.4M for 2024 still has to be accounted for. Not even the corruption of the AFL could "disappear" a million dollars from the salary cap of the Suns without some serious kickback from the football fraternity.
If the AFL wants to do it the rest of the clubs will toe the line , this isn’t a democracy , more akin to North Korea

Let’s hope the new veterans list allowance comes in next year

It will mean dusty will never leave Richmond
If Peggy was still running the show this wouldn’t even be a discussion

the Suns don't have cap space. therefore they can'tget Dusty. Unless they bribe us with picks to pay for him playing there.

How likely are the Suns to part with multiple first rounders' to get Dusty? - that's what it would take. One for D Martin and one for the $, at least.

very unlikely I would say.

Plus he loves the club and has great bonuses with us.

It could happen, but it would take a massive trade + the AFL chipping in. Very unlikely.

I am sick of this s**t with Dusty he has done it his hole career just say i am going or I am staying that will end or this media s**t stop staffing us around.
It’s off season, clearly and as we are not in the finals it keeps us in the news lol. He owes us nothing whatever happens not fussed.

Was at a customer’s other day and a cocky blues fan started talkin footy ,,,says you should let dusty go , he won’t be part of your next flag ,,,,with a lifeless look I replied but he’ll be apart of our next WIN ,,,he had nothing
What in 2100?!?! Hahahahahaa...slow witted toon supporters!

It's amazing how so many get caught up in the clickbait mainstream media drivel. There was no way Dusty would be going to GC, they can't afford him PERIOD. But it doesn't stop Whately and other journos from putting out garbage comments and articles without any substance to them. And this article below says Dusty is open to a move north or a different challenge, Says who?
If it hasn't come directly from Dusty's mouth then it's utter bullshit.

Could Suns even get Dusty deal done?

Gold Coast is officially out of the race for Dustin Martin given the difficulty in satisfying the Suns on a trade and the Richmond star on his massive salary.

Martin is open to a move north or a different challenge in footy but even before Thursday’s meeting with Damien Hardwick at a Gold Coast pub was aware the Suns move wasn’t happening.

The Suns would ideally like to consider ways for the triple Norm Smith Medallist to become a Sun.

But they couldn’t pay his $1.4 million salary, Richmond isn’t interested in a trade, and they don’t have the picks to satisfy the Tigers even if the first two issues were resolved.

So the club’s football department including Hardwick is on board with the fact that if Martin moves north it will be at the end of next year.

The Suns need to accumulate the points for rivals to bid on their trio of first-round academy selections as early as pick two (Jed Walter), pick 5 (Ethan Read) and pick 10 (Jake Rogers).

You get the impression that the cretins wanted to dead set corn hole us on this , when they were told to go forth and multiply , they went cold

A pure media driven clickbait story they generated and let run for a few days knowing full well he was never going anywhere.

The speculation and pure bullshit these campaigners do to make money is shameful.
Nothing compared to when they tried saying he met with some underworld figure and all they had was a pic of him at a bus stop

he has no privacy
The privacy thing is why I thought he would move. He must be sick of it. A non afl state would be awesome for him to live in, and with cotch and reiwoldt going maybe there was more chance. Funny thing is all 4 clubs of nsw and Queensland are abouts in the window

Balme has made it clear that Martin is not leaving, media will be upset about that

SEN’s Whateley asked Balme what he thought of Martin catching up with his old mentor on the Gold Coast, Balme replied: “I thought it was wonderful.

“Why wouldn’t he? He coached him for how long and they did all the things together.
“It gave you blokes (the media) something to talk about that he must be going there to play, which is not true, I can guarantee you.”

Does Balme expect that Hardwick would have asked Martin if he’d like to play for the Suns?

“Of course he would have, he’d be mad if he didn’t, ‘any chance at all?’” Balme laughed.

“But if you know ‘Duz’ you’ll know that’s not what he’s like. At this stage he doesn’t want to go and meet a whole bunch of new people and fit into a new team.

“He’s had a wonderful time at Richmond and we’re pretty confident he’ll spend his footy years at the Tigers.”
There has been some alternative chatter floating about that Martin is intent on playing 300 games for the Tigers, but Balme does not believe he would be motivated by such a milestone.

“Knowing him he wouldn’t think about it much,” Balme said further.
“But he will reflect on it later and enjoy the things (he’s achieved) because he’s about tomorrow and playing again.
“He just likes playing and he doesn’t get engaged in all that other stuff all that much.”
