First qtr/ half was pretty disappointing purely from a decision making standpoint

But glass half full he was getting his hands on it in the first place
Didn’t finish the game overly bad either

Wouldn’t be upset if he was given a spell in the vfl to regain some confidence but still enough to persist with overall

He’s getting a bit of ball , he needs to make some better decisions, twice when he had plenty of time under no pressure , picked a poor 1 v 2 option . I’d continue to play him unless there were better ideas , am praying he has a breakout game
He got plenty of the ball but turned it over like 5 times. Still no signs off improving I rate hugo more than this dude.

Write up:
“A clean and damaging player possessing the best two-sided kick in the draft pool, Sonsie is a stoppage specialist with slick hands and smarts who can also go forward and kick goals.”

Tyler Sonsie is a balanced midfielder able to win clearances in close, but also hurt the opposition on the outside with his clean and crisp skills. Proving he could match it against senior players with a 24 disposal and two goal game in his only VFL outing for Box Hill, he may be one of a few Victorian prospects to debut at AFL level next year. Likened by recruiters to Richmond champion Trent Cotchin, such a comparison is evident in his stoppage work; able to win first possession with quick anticipation and clean hands to set up midfield thrusts, but also every chance to go forward and kick goals on his right and left boot.

Maybe we do need to put him in the midfield.

He is a confidence player. It's no coincidence that after he kicked his goal he was markedly better.
Even the commentary team was praising him which never happens.

He butchered it early, don't get me wrong. However, his disposal efficiency would have been a lot better if his teammates didn't drop absolute sitters... (Mansell im looking at you)

I thought he showed improvement last week, and again this week. He is a touch player, which has deserted him all season, but he is starting to get confidence and touch back. Soft no, but certainly not physical, but if he can link up and start using the ball better like he did the second half, then that is progress.

Only played the 21 games so far in his career. God I hope we don't Tim Taranto him and play him in a spot he just isnt suited for. He needs to be part of the Centre Bounce rotations. Just give him a go for gods sake, now is the time. Better to find out the strengths and weaknesses of our players now.

I still think he’s going to be a very good midfielder, but like Miller he needs to be played in his correct position to develop and shine. Someone mentioned a touch player and I couldn’t agree more and that’s where he will do his damage in the guts where he works on instinct rather than having to think about it for too long in the FL. Least of our problems.

That's exactly what we've been doing to him.

I don't want to upset

Dud delist

No good.

Reason 1
- decision making slow (usually fast and effective decision making under immense pressure measures talented midfielders, he's slow to make decisions always. Went at 44% de last week too.

2. Height, weight, agility, speed, strength all average. No real strength to his game.

Lastly, so I don't beat a dead horse, can't be giving youth 50 games in the AFL to figure your shit out, with midfielders, you find out pretty quick if they're cut for the gig or not.

You're right. We'd find out much quicker if this midfielder was played in the midfield. However, he is trying to make a fist of playing on the half forward flank which he has never played before this year.

Expectations are insane on this guy and I have no idea why. If he uses the ball better yesterday he puts together a pretty decent game. Not many half forward flankers are finding it 16 times a game but sure maybe he should be getting midfield numbers in the forward line.

Spare me.

Lol

Did you not get enough of Dow in the midfield ? Sonsie, Dow, would be the worst midfield ever played in afl/vfl history.

This is the afl yeah? Not the dvfl. The coach has to make assemble a competitive team. Walsh, cripps vs. Dow and sonsie and Blight Miller end up with 15 kicked against them and we don't discover him.

Cannot sacrifice the team to cater to sonsie.

We’re second last yeah? If north weren’t so putrid we’d be spooners. Can’t wait for that game, which shock horror is at marvel. We have four points and 3 percentage points on north.

We play three home games in our last 8 rounds. We can still win the wooden spoon comfortably.

What does it matter? Find out about some of these kids and give them a run. We have literally nothing to lose.
