Have been struggling to picture the type of player Banks most resembles but can definitely see it with Embley.

Not sure why so many are preoccupied with height here, we’re only talking 2 - 5 cms. It means nothing. We don’t do headers.

You don’t mark the ball with the top of your head. Some heads are long, some are round, whatever. You can be an inch taller just because of the size of your head.

The more relevant measurement is your reach, your leap and also the combination of both.

A few centimetres in height means nothing. And means even less if you’re inferior with body work and reading the flight.

You are absolutely right of course, however the height stat is the most readily available, easy to get one, so it becomes an initial point of reference I would suggest.

A few centimetres can be a little psychological for some players, after all we have to look up slightly to the top of the opponents head if the same height. ;)

Long head long neck and short arms would be a problem too 👍

Youre right, its all about wing span. :tearsofjoy:

Is anybody aware of Sam Banks currently carrying a niggle? Morris mentioned he’s playing with a bit of adversity at the moment.

Im wondering if this is a niggling injury or is it something outside of football that isn’t public. Homesick?

Whatever it is that is restricting him currently hopefully he can build on his resilience as he is a genuinely talented footballer. Super creative with the ball and is very athletic.

All of our draft picks are showing they all are very capable ball to foot, which is only going to develop nicely for the AFL level.

"Sam had a reasonable game. We certainly didn't see some of the explosive and exciting plays that we've come to expect from Sam off half-back and on the wings, but he had to work his way through some adversity and it was quite pleasing to see him do that."

If that’s the part you are talking about it says to me at least that he was copping some more attention from his opponent off the ball like a hard tag so he had to work his way into the game

That’s my take away anyway

That's the way I read it too. Good sign that players such as Banks and Sonsie are already being tagged and learning how to fight through it. Really sets them up for when they earn their spot in the AFL side

This bloke is extremely talented. He’s got a very handy combination of athleticism, skills and size.

Will be much better utilised in an outside type role when he gets his chance at AFL level. He is the type of player that breaks lines with his run and by foot.

He and Tom Brown share many similar traits…but honestly you can never have enough quality ball users.
