Mod Notice

The level of vitriol and frankly toxic culture in this thread is getting out of hand. As such, the thread will be monitored actively for posters who drag down the quality of posting for all others, and they will have their access to the thread removed.

Further, reference to TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) will no longer be allowed. Much like other tropes of that nature, it serves as a conversational barrier and fall-back point for people to simply sling mud. That's unacceptable.

Thanks.

His intent wasn't necessary. The mere fact he asked is enough. He doesn't actually have to say out loud, investigate Biden so I can smear him and beat him at the next election for it to be chargeable. Nobody speaks like that.

The flipside to your analysis that anything is now impeachable, is that anything, regardless of how serious, can now be acquitted by the Senate without witnesses being called. Given the information out there, I'd say the latter is the more serious issue. His campaign tried to get dirt from Russia, he asked for dirt from Russia. He tried to get dirt from Ukraine, and he publicly asked Ukraine and China to carry out investigations. Anybody can now breach campaign finance laws whenever they like.

Barr has just cleared the way for further Trump underhand dealings by making himself the final approval for any investigations into presidential candidates. He can refuse all Trump related investigations and rubber stamp others. It's just unheard of.

Regardless whether the intent was necessary or not, it's STILL speculation whether or not that was the intent (to smear Biden).

And STILL the constitution is vague in it's deliberation as to what constitutes impeachment. It's all opinion based on what constitutes impeachment, that seems not up for debate.

So the question could be asked, did the dems impeach in an attempt to smear the president or was it purely because they 'felt' they had reason for the public interest and integrity of office? Again that's speculation, fair speculation but speculation none the less.

On face value this little bit of the constitution is flawed right?

decent post 👍

but usually, as some here well know, usually the experienced operators are like Obama have media manning their back flank (protecting) for political hitjobs or, more commonly, they go thru backchannel operators(Giuliani) to achieve these ends with no paper trail and plausible deniability intact, so they don't leave themselves open to duplicitous actors in the diplomat corps in DC/Virginia/Maryland wherever the f they reside

I had something else if I can remember.

This is par for course in DC, under such metric, Trump has done nothing wrong. Trump's neophyte experience is manifest HOWEVER the populace who voted for him may ironically see this as authentic and a POSITIVE!

Not at all. You just can't be asking for favours like that from other countries. The whole idea is that they then know something that the rest of the US doesn't, and can use that against you. Any President or government official potentially beholden to a foreign entity is dangerous to the US.

I'm guessing there is no actual evidence of these actions by operators 'like Obama'? Makes it hard to argue equivalence. If there is evidence, then it should have been tried.

btw If Biden was or is guilty of anything, then throw the book at him. The corruption in US politics needs to be stamped out, and Trump never intended to do anything but feather his own nest.

Get the money out of politics and they might have a chance.

Hunter Biden and 1.5(???)US$billion in CCP renminbi for his foundation base in his hedge-fund. So the CP has 1.5USbillion$ in units in the fund. Hunter can't Bernie Maddof it

Joe could have told his son ...now, that if he did take the money, the SEC would make his life unbearable because Joe would do that.

Did his wife die too as well as his other son? I have a personal empathy for JB, but this is high-stakes and divorced from the personal element.

The 700k, the 1.5 US billion from the Sinos.

OldDarkNavys you make yourself bad-faith interlocutor if you support one, yet seek Ken Starr to f over POTUS.

TDS nothing more

Are you suggesting that Obama was in on Hunter Biden getting a job with Burisma? Do we know what Joe told Hunter at the time? Hunter is an adult.

What has his wife got to do with anything. Can you spell out what you are getting out with these things, rather than just alluding to them?

Ken Starr ... what? I take each one for what it is. Trump sought dirt on Biden and wasn't doing it because he was concerned about corruption. He also sought dirt on Hillary in 2016. He can't please ignorance here.

Starr impeached Clinton for getting a BJ and lying to congress about it. The two things are not even comparable.

Don't be a d!ck

I said, joe lost adult son. natural empathy. But I thought he had more personal trauma too

Unless 19 other republican senators like romney were going to show morale courage and vote to convict, the result was not a surprise to the regular posters on this thread.
It wasn’t a surprise to anyone. The Dems have been blowing the Impeach Pipe every day since Trump was elected. The big surprise was how long it took them to finally **** themselves royally.

This is a totally unhinged post. Every conversation is immersed within a context and this post entirely discounts context and what is that but pure partisanship?
His campaign tried to get dirt from Russia during a press conference FFS. Trump urged on by the media added a touch of braggadocio to a request for wikileaks or Russia to release Hillary's emails.

Don't be writing this crap nearly 4 years later as if it were somekind of sombre and weighty analysis. You have inflated yourself so much that you have impressed yourself. The Russia crap is proven to be Russia crap. If you want to sustain the mirage of sobriety rewrite the post absent the Russia crap because it is a dead give-away of thoughtless idiocy.

At the end of all this, what can be said, if Biden and his son weren't dirty than maybe the DNC had a modicum of a chance to have the Senate look at these impeachment charges seriously. But if Biden and his son weren't dirty, Trump would never have had any reason to ask the Ukrainians to investigate anything.

That is it in a nutshell, and no amount of rhetoric has changed anyone's position. Did Trump act in a inappropriate manner? Sure. Were there legitimate reasons for Trump to do so? Sure. So how can anyone on god's earth believe this was impeachable, let alone that it would pass thru a majority opposition Senate.

You will not beat a master Troll by behaving like one and yet that is all that the DNC seem to do. And your post is little more than trolling.

At what? You do realise Obama slaughtered many people including children yeah? That’s a fact.

Anyone around here think this is bullshit them prove me wrong.
It’s not up to us to prove you wrong. It’s up to you to prove your claim.

It wasn’t a surprise to anyone. The Dems have been blowing the Impeach Pipe every day since Trump was elected. The big surprise was how long it took them to finally fu** themselves royally.
Because they knew from his history what a fraud and con man he is.

Add to that the Russian influence, the social media dirty tricks. All speak against his fitness to be in office.

And in any case, every president should assume people are out to impeach him... if he does anything that would deserve impeachment. Trump certainly has.

You just can't be asking for favours like that from other countries.

It seems you can, as is what is evident. I'm more than certain that has happened previously and will happen in the future no doubt.

This is the whole problem, the vague what constitutes is allowable or not is vague. Orange can disguise it as a 'good' but in reality it's for his own political gain..(speculation)

Pollies wouldn't do that would they? Nooooooooo!.

No you shouldn't be asking favours from other countries, not the point, there's an avenue to do so.

Trump pockets up to $650 when his own Secret Service agents stay at his hotel
The president’s company charges his own Secret Service agents up to $650 a night to stay at his properties – a bill that is ultimately paid by U.S. taxpayers – when they stay the night protecting him, the Washington Post reported this morning. Here’s more from the Post:

At Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, the Secret Service was charged the $650 rate dozens of times in 2017, and a different rate, $396.15, dozens more times in 2018, according to documents from Trump’s visits.

And at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, the Secret Service was charged $17,000 a month to use a three-bedroom cottage on the property, an unusually high rent for homes in that area, according to receipts from 2017. Trump’s company billed the government even for days when Trump wasn’t there.

These payments appear to contradict the Trump Organization’s own statements about what it charges members of his government entourage. “If my father travels, they stay at our properties for free — meaning, like, cost for housekeeping,” Trump’s son Eric said in a Yahoo Finance interview last year.

The Russian influence, connection, bedtime story, etc has been proven to be false. No one is going with that anymore. Why do you keep bringing it up?

Perhaps because it hasn't proven to be false. Proving something false and being unable to collect a chargeable load of evidence are two very different things.
