Mod Notice

The level of vitriol and frankly toxic culture in this thread is getting out of hand. As such, the thread will be monitored actively for posters who drag down the quality of posting for all others, and they will have their access to the thread removed.

Further, reference to TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) and its counterpart 'Trumpanzee' or anything similar will no longer be allowed. Much like other tropes of that nature, they serves as a conversational barrier and fall-back point for people to simply sling mud. That's unacceptable.

Thanks.

I hope you read that before you linked it...?
FK: chloroquine has been approved by the FDA to treat covid 19

FDA doc: yeah we approve chloroquine to treat covid19

You'll have to specify which part of this message you are having trouble with and I'll help you from there.

I'm not sure that "emergency use" is the same as "FDA approved".
What a stretch!

I stated that it is approved by the FDA to treat cases of covid19. This is objective truth. Condolences!

Chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate are not FDA-approved for treatment of
COVID-19. Some versions of chloroquine phosphate are approved by FDA for other
indications—for prophylaxis and acute attacks of certain strains of malaria and for the treatment
of extraintestinal amebiasis, but the chloroquine phosphate drug product covered by this letter
has not been approved. Several versions of hydroxychloroquine sulfate are approved by FDA
for prophylaxis of and treatment of malaria, treatment of lupus erythematosus, and treatment of
rheumatoid arthritis. The safety profile of these drugs has only been studied for FDA approved
indications, not COVID-19.

And you would most likely be incorrect, unusual as that is for your good self. Unless you want to dispute the point with an actual expert.

"This is not FDA approval of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19," says infectious diseases physician Rajesh Gandhi, who is leading Massachusetts General Hospital's COVID-19 treatment task force.

Further - it is to be limited in its application:
"and the medicines would only be distributed to patients who have been hospitalized and tested positive for COVID-19, but for whom a "clinical trial is not available, or participation is not feasible,"

Ok so the FDA "authorized it's use" to treat covid. If y'all wanna play semantics then go ahead. None of you would turn it down in hospital though, so stop politicizing it. I totally understand how the anti-vax movement started, after seeing posts tonight. "Well, akshually..."

Your initial statement was somewhat "generous", to be kind.

That's nothing to do with semantics. Nor politicization.

It's as if you didn't even look into the actual details involved.

Hopefully at the next presser Trump says it's a good idea to drink water and eat.

It is NOT FDA approved for treatment of Covid-19.

NOT approved.

Why continue with this untruth?

what are you clowns sooking about now in relation to Trump

Having concluded that the criteria for issuance of this authorization under 564(c) of the Act are met, I am authorizing the emergency use of chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate, as described in the Scope of Authorization section of this letter (Section II) for treatment of COVID-19 when clinical trials are not available, or participation is not feasible, subject to the terms of this authorization.

Now go and read the whole thing instead of selectively using the one very exceptional circumstance that allows its use.

The problem with you people is that you are rather loose with the truth.

No shit we wouldn't turn it down, we're scared and desperate. That's why regulations are put in place, rather than leaving it up to the layman.

You're politicising it. The only reason you keep going on about it is because it defends Trump.
Stop spreading misinformation just because you think it helps Trump.

You're lying about results, and you're lying about what the experts are actually saying.
That's the same thing anti-vaxxers do.

The experts are arguing that the test conditions were flawed, so the results aren't conclusive. So they are running proper tests.
You're taking these flawed tests and saying that's all the information you need.
The same way anti-vaxxers started to link autism with vaccinations.

You linked to an article that disproved your statement, because you didn't take 30 seconds to read it, and just assumed it said what you wanted it to say.
Another common trait shared with anti-vaxxers.

I don't live in Flint.
No kidding?

Given your statement, in humour of course, I just wondered how it would go down with the good folks of Flint if Trump actually said it.

I'm assuming you are aware of what has gone on there.

Starting to see the onflow now of Trumps drug recommendation with people panic buying it, medical facilities pulling prescriptions, etc.

Plenty of stories on Twitter of people who use the drug for autoimmune diseases who wont be getting their prescriptions.

Great work.

Hopefully at the next presser Trump says it's a good idea to drink water and eat.
Or hopefully, he announces he is putting back all the money, resources and people he took out of the pandemic and frontline disease control over the last couple of years. Then, instead of giving the essential and desperately needed supplies to private companies to auction off to the highest bidder, he could actually announce he will give, to the states in greatest need, the equipment they need.
Still, more than likely he will announce he is giving everything of ‘ours’ to Florida- a state that has done very little to help itself but Donnie sure needs their votes. ;)

It's prescription only. If anyone is "panic buying" then they are doing so with a doctor's endorsement. That is the fault of the individual doctor, not Trump. I swear you just throw as many darts as you can at the board and hope one of them lands.

:tearsofjoy:

It is FDA approved to treat covid. Have you been off the grid the last week?
Best leave it to the experts to spread the message, I would have thought. You are sounding like Trump, spreading only half the message.

In a statement published, the US Department of Health and Human Services detailed recent donations to a national stockpile of the two drugs — hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, both being investigated for possible COVID-19 treatment.

It said it allowed them "to be distributed and prescribed by doctors to hospitalised teen and adult patients with COVID-19, as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible."

Janet Woodcock, director of the Centre for Drug Evaluation and Research at the FDA, said in a tweet that it was important to remember that the benefits of these drugs in the treatment of coronavirus had not been proven.

Some would argue you refuse to see any error in any of Trumps judgements, nor any of his failures or incorrect actions.

But hey, that would make them Libtards, right?
