Trump has come into 1.72 on Sportsbet today. Wtf is going on?
He focuses on immigration fears and it impacts. And it’s hard to combat. Of course if he gets in, he’ll do zilch to address it, but some people are duffers.
And he is hopeless on economics, but again, there are plenty of people who willingly fall for his lies. Sheesh.

I just finished watching the first part of a documentary of Hitler's rise to power 1930-33. It concentrated mainly on the political manoeuvring that got Hitler to the Chancellory and the Nazi's as the dominant party in the Reichstag. The similarities to then and now in the U.S are staggering. The media not calling out Hitler's lies and bullshit. His dangerous rhetoric, fear mongering and blaming of minorities for the ills of the country. The placing of sympathisers in lower level areas of power (election offices, courts, police etc).

Early 1930s Germany and 2024 U.S.A are really not that much of a stretch to link intrinsically from a political perspective.

Very similar indeed. The podcast Ultra is excellent.

Who take there kids to such a rally?

Skylar Fournier brought frozen wipes to keep herself, her toddler and her 1-month-old baby cool, plus coloring books and crayons to keep the older child entertained. Fournier and her children, who came about two hours from their home in the Boulevard community in eastern San Diego County, wore matching American flag ribbons in their hair.

“I have sunscreen on the kids and trying to just do our best here to make sure we’re all hydrated and staying cool,” she said.
It’s so bloody insane…and sad…but hey, at least her kids got to see their future nazi role model.

Knowing history is important. Trump was giving off those Munich vibes very early on in 16, but you kind of felt silly making that comparison, even to yourself (Godwin's law).
As Maddow's research and podcast shows, there has been an authoritarian/fascist undercurrent in US politics forever, probably everywhere in the world. And it cyclically surfaces around times of crisis. Knowing this should help in combating it. Unfortunately it seems that these movements often have unknowing pawns in older generations who get captured by whatever the new information technology was at that time, mass publications, radio, TV, internet....
