According to the Washington Examiner, discussions with the whistleblower - revealed by RealClearInvestigations as 33-year-old Eric Ciaramella have been halted, "and there is no discussion of testimony from a second whistleblower, who supported the first's claims."
Trump-Ukraine Whistleblower Suddenly Won't Testify; Lawyers Break Off Negotiations Amid New Revelations

Nancy Pelosi saw this coming and caved to her party anyway. There isn't enough popcorn in the world for what's coming.
What does that mean about the transcript that supported the whistleblower?

The whistleblower doesn't need to testify. Their report launched the investigation, which has resulted in a bunch of people who were personally involved in both the specific phone conversation with the Ukrainian President as well as the implementation of US foreign policy in Ukraine providing testimony about what happened. That testimony seems to be pretty damning and comes from highly respected and experienced members of the State Department and the military, people that have served multiple Presidents from both parties, not to mention Trump appointees too.

The transcript supports nothing of the sort
It shows that Trump is eager to get to the bottom of the Russia Gate saga
After 2 years of slander and the Mueller investigation it is a perfectly normal thing for anyone to want to do
How does some dude who heard from other dudes and interpreted their comments as something which complied with his own partisan views a whistleblower? Tell me how he is akin to Snowden or Chelsea Manning? The moment that transcript was released and not challenged the whole saga became an immeasurable farce.

There is no "transcript", certainly not a word for word recounting of the conversation. There is a summary. A person who was on the phone call has testified that there are omissions in that summary. The call itself is only part of the problem. We have had numerous witnesses give testimony about the pressure they were getting from the White House to withhold aid that had been authorised by Congress to be sent to Ukraine until the Trump's conditions were met.

A whitleblower is someone who informs on a person or an organisation that is engaging in illegal and unethical conduct. That is exactly what the whistleblower in this case did. We have gone over this already. That they used a formal whistleblower mechanism to bring attention to the illegality rather than simply releasing information to the public doesn't make them any less a whistleblower.

Trump is well within his rights to investigate the origins of the Mueller report if he wants. The Justice Department is doing just that. What Trump can't do is withhold funds that have been allocated to foreign aid to pressure a foreign government to investigate a direct political rival.

Dude this is now going to destroy the current DNC leadership and has doubled tripled Trump's likelihood of being re-elected. Sometime, over the last 24 hours, the DNC and Mainstream Media have woken up to how this now plays out and there is no scenario where they don't end up looking like complete schiff.

The GOP, Trump - whoever it is - has entrapped the DNC to make this move. The circus is booked and coming to town. The walls are indeed closing in.

You have to hand it to Trump, behind that trolling buffoon act is a very cunning man. His call was indeed "perfect"

Good luck with that

We will see. No President has ever been reelected with approval ratings as low as Trumps. Of course, records are there to be broken... but let's see how things pan out before congratulating Trump on his genius 4D chess move of getting himself impeached.

The media wouldn't have published photos of Trump starkers and sucking on a bong while cavorting with a male intern?
No doubt they would. I'd have the same opinion about them publishing those photos (and the same opinion of posters on the forum who chose to reproduce them too).

It shows Trump asking for a favour to investigate Joe Biden. During a discussion about military aid.

And Trump claimed it was an exact transcript. Rather than it being more like a summary.

And there are no doubt a number of precedents which fill you with confidence that : you have him - this time?

So, you're saying he meant this all along, it was a masterplan?

Righto.

No - re-read the original transcript the favour is investigating the server and crowdstrike
Biden is merely the bait at the end of the phone conversation. Hook, line and sinker!
Now imagine, in the middle of the election cycle in the 2020, the Senate holding open hearings and sending subpeonas about Crowdstrike, the Server, the Dossier, FISA...

What does that have to do with whether or not the explicitly-spelt-out-in-the-constitution process of impeachment is constitutional or not?

There isn't a transcript. You keep saying to read it but there isn't one that exists.

There is a 'summary' of the call with parts clearly edited out. The White House released it thinking it would clear them and even their own edited version doesn't look good.

The full transcript is clearly more damning or they'd release it instead of putting out a summary and referring to it as a transcript.

Stable geniuses everywhere.

The inability to differentiate between the Mueller special counsel investigation and this impeachment is stunning.

The key difference is, apart from the procedural - der - that Trump hasn't had time to set the narrative.

With Mueller locked away for a year Trump had every day to be out there going NO OBSTRUCTION, NO COLLUSION and then Barr had the chance to set the narrative when it was released.

But on this one Trump is playing dee-fence and forced into being reactive every time.

The better comparison for this is the shutdown.

As I've said all along, Pelosi plays these Washington set pieces very well, that's her game. She even told him "You're in my wheelhouse now Mr President".

Remember how Republicans were in lockstep support of Trump on the shutdown in early January?

And a month later they had turned on him over it once they worked out how unpopular it was?

That's Pelosi's game ... she knows they'll turn on him if the public opinion puts the heat under their feet.

Hence the public hearings starting.

Wait... You're trying to say it was deliberate?

He did it... to create this situation... in order to fracture the Democrats?

Dude, this is not about the constitution - it's about winning public opinion - that's politics. The DNC has just handed Trump another term.

Agree, but you're starting from a fundamentally flawed position as to why you think it benefits Trump.

Its not a transcript dude.

Probably plays well with his base re “them Democrats are persecuting trump”, whether it enthuses others to “kick out the crook” is unclear.
