Incredulous Ll Cool J GIF

Kept an eye on Robert last week and this - I really hope Lynch is pushing him to play with some dash. As with his first game, he didn't really stand out yesterday - except maybe for an OOB. On the plus side, he stepped inside in one play, cut the defence open and I'm directly behind him - go for goal mate! Tries a short kick to Lowson instead and it's cut off.

Son, we got you over from WA for some sizzle, so fire up the barbie. You're here until next year anyway, so you don't have to worry about playing for contract, just go for it

Why do we recruit small forwards not known for kicking goals

To go with the defenders who can't defend. :stern look

I think his ability to hit targets puts him miles ahead of most other smaller forwards we have.

Should have drafted a tall.
We have 2 that we can bank on moving forward. Larkey & Logue.
Goldstien is 304 years old.
Bmac is probably going to leave, and
who the f knows what we have got with X, CCJ & Comben?

God that is scary small group.

We do need more KPPs, but we also need to move on mid-sized players who can't either play on smaller targets in defense or can't do scoreboard damage up forward. MSD is always going to be hit or miss with a heavy emphasis on miss. These are players who were overlooked for the rookie lists of all clubs.

if there's one thing we can say for absolute sure at this point it's that the MSD is not the place to be drafting talls. Has it ever worked for anyone?

Any decent tall isn't hanging around until the MSD

I'd rather take some talls in the ND with late picks. More likely to hit on someone like we did with Larkey, Port with Lourd, Hawks with Lewis etc.
Hansen Jnr might have a higher ceiling with development time. Only really Maric has looked AFL standard so far.
Buller was just ok against Lions and it Kinnear Beatson passed the buck on picking him to Dom Pyke lol.

For those that didn’t watch, where is he playing? Is it a high half forward role or playing deeper forward?

It must be hard to move interstate, learn a new game plan and then come in and have an impact.

High half forward and then worked back hard.

I think his game on the weekend was EXTREMELY underrated - someone needs to throw his game together in clip form to really show how good he was because he's not being talked up enough after what he did and it's insane that he's being talked down for some reason. Happy to provide time stamps for each of his touches if anyone wants to do this.

He was tough, disciplined, clean, dynamic, had a couple of exciting run and carry moments, had some exceptional crumbing moments that showed anticipation and discipline, and made excellent decisions the whole game. The only negative for me was a couple of poor moments by foot, and we know he's usually very clean with his kicking.

His first game was solid and I felt his game on the weekend was VERY exciting.

Might surprise a few when I say this but I've got little doubt he'll play some games before the end of the year if he keeps up what he did on the weekend.

I liked the idea of throwing the dart on him at the MSD, but I did not expect he would show so much so early. The recruiting and coaching staff would be over the moon with what he's shown already.

All that to say I'm happy to go early and plant my flag on this guy: I genuinely think we have one here.

Not underrated by me, but I totally understand some of the criticisms (go for goal next time…)

He is different to spicer. His pace looks more like he is gliding, rather than electric spicer, and he takes long strides. He also looks to bring his teammates into the game (something I think Cooper still struggles with) and tries for the shorter option in the best position going inside fifty kick. He has a lovely kicking style and puts his head over it. Contested footy is not a problem and he has gone back with the flight a couple times now.

His tackles also hit harder than Spicer (Junior is taller, so I would hope so) and his defensive pressure is really good and often unnoticed. His build is closer to a rangey Cameron than a slightly stockier Pickett, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. His build allows him to take more marks overhead.

If we accepted Spicer’s lower offensive and disposal numbers, then I don’t see why Jr can’t sneak a few games in at the highest level. Tank and strength are the only things holding him back. He is still very raw.

Really keen to see him after a full afl preseason.

If he’s good enough for Souup then he’s good enough for me
