So Trump is pretending to support the auto workers currently on strike in Detroit, planning a rally in the city and going to a non-union, non-Big Three plant. Many in the media are unfortunately falling for it and giving the coverage the Republicans want, trying to spin that they are now somehow the party of workers, in spite of his history of being opposed to this very union.



Biden, meanwhile, is the first US President in history to join a union picket line, giving his support to the workers.

Good on Joe for doing so. I see some former Obama advisor criticised Biden for doing it. Neoliberalism forever according to them…

I don't know the rules about calling witnesses but it appears the majority can stop them being called. Getting Rudy to testify would be one of my major aims if I were the Dems.

The GOP are only partly doing this for Trump. They are also banking on it to help in the next election of not just POTUS but also down the ticket. They are fighting the taint of Trump AND the MAGA caucus. They are dependent on the 6~7 million who voted for him last time to stay within their media bubbles and hear Biden and impeach over and over. If Fox and the rest of that conservative ecosystem keep a lid on the actual testimonies and evidence, the GOP have a chance of not losing their slightly rusted on but still coherent voters.
