Not sure this helps Trump, it just reinforces that Trump is anti-abortion and even his own wife doesn't agree with him. I doubt anyone is going to hear these comments and thing 'Trump is going to restore abortion rights now'.

Look at the opposition to Obamacare, which is such a weak version of what most industrialised countries have, and think what it would be for paid parental leave.

The US is an structurally conservative society in that it finds it difficult to think that any of its economic or legislative structures, even if they were developed 200 years ago in completely different circumstances, need deep examination.
