Personal attacks are also to be kept to a minimum.

Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. What this means is that you will be asked time to time to support your claims with evidence, to ensure that this forum is as free of misinfomation as we can make it.

Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

As always, please submit ideas for the thread title by tagging Gethelred! We're looking for something new to match the new thread!

More Codswallop.
Well, I'd prefer to just let those respective posting histories stand for themselves, but I'll play a little more here for one reason - your use of the word "Codswallop". It's a personal favourite of mine, y'see, and is a vast improvement upon the usual sort of thing you post, and deserving of some form of response on the strength of that alone.

If your responses are going to continue bleating like a goat when you see something you don't like, however, I believe my willingness to give you any attention at all has been severely reduced.
I'm highly unlikely to respond to you any further at this point, pending evidence of an improvement in your ability on your part to actually make a point.

On that note, you have my permission to post something now in order to get the last word in.
Clock's ticking.

None of those reasons really apply to the discussion at hand though, do they. I'm talking about the effectiveness of the Trump administration's strategy in decreasing the desire for migrants to attempt illegal entry into the United States.
Trump killed Biden's border plans, far as I know.

That didn't make a difference?

I suppose if you act like a savage to anyone who seeks refuge, people will stop seeking refuge.

Trump is a campaigner. This is a known fact.

Isn't Matt Gaetz some sort of sex criminal? Why is he being elevated to some sort of cabinet position? I didn't think the Donald liked competition.
A big **** you troll to the justice system for the shit he's facing??

I think this will be one recommendation that will definitely get substantial pushback from within the party IMO.

There is no stable democracy on earth, where a woman can make credible claims against a politician, that he committed under age rape, and then that person is appointed head of the judiciary.

Our attorney general got dumped for like allegations.

There is only one reason to appoint someone like that, and incur the heat it will bring, its because the benefits outway the cost.

But Gaetz is no legal mind, he is barely a mind at all. He is disliked, even in his own party.

The only thing he has to bring, is unswerving loyalty, and no ethics or morals

Because this is what Trump values above all, a lick arse with no limits.

three take-home points for mine.

“Yes, the presidency was always crucial to their plans, but so was control over state houses, governorships, the Senate and the Supreme Court.

This formed the basis of a new social movement premised on the rejection of the advances of the civil rights movement. Its adherents despised all those they perceived as a threat to the social order they sought to (re)create: mobilised Black Americans, feminists, lesbians and gays, migrants and anybody else who could be broadly described as ‘liberal’.

At the centre of this mobilisation was wealth and power”

At the same time, the cost-of-living crisis and inflation drove resentment. A sense that America was flailing, directionless. It was fertile ground for bad-faith actors to recruit based on false promises, grievance, and mobilised hatred.”

“Trump speaks to a reactionary mobilisation that explicitly rejects the norms of American politics. It is a movement that does not want to embrace a diverse, modern, and equal future. It is explicitly built upon its rejection.

bingo!

What do the anti-vaxxer Trump supporters think of "The Donald Trump Covid-19 Vaccine"?
Trump stopped talking about it three years ago after a rally he tried to take credit for it and the crowd booed,
Not a word since.

This is a very good article that explains a lot of Trump’s appeal. I think Trump supporters and opponents alike would appreciate its insights.

"So long as centrists double down on this system and hope for the best, western democracies will be vulnerable."

Sounds right.
