Don't forget that due to conscription in Israel, if you condemn the IDF, many Israelis take it very personally because they served in the IDF and were trained to do something. Because they don't see themselves as war criminals, but see themselves as members of the IDF, then calling the IDF war criminals, they take that personally. If you get ordered to enforce an illegal occupation, are you a war criminal yourself? It's a fine line that they have convinced themselves they would never have crossed.

It's not dissimilar to Republicans and Trump supporters who will excuse anything he says or does because they associate themselves as republicans or Trumpists and therefore an attack on Trump is an attack on them and mustn't be true.

This touches on what I think this story time thing started as. First, in how many schools in how places does this happen? I think a group of civic-minded trans people decided they wanted to contribute to the community, just like those other groups like the Lions, religious groups, clowns and similar costumed readers, and POTUSs. It's a natural, helpful, widespread, nurturing thing on one level and something that can be and is subverted to political and other agenda driven opportunities at another level. Trans people reading stories is the one of the innocent of theses. IMO
Kids who would go to a story time are quite young. They are already bombarded by a wide variety of stimuli from their environment, especially if their parents allow them free reign with the TV. For them, story time with such diverse readers can be like going to the circus. I teach young children. They love a good story time. All the other shit doesn't really affect them unless some dumbass adult makes a big thing of it and disrupts their experience. That does affect them.
We've all grown up with trans things, our parents did too. Were they turned trans by Milton Berle? It's clear that this is completely a made up issue to wage the culture war for political gain. Ask these easily enraged conservatives if they were recruited by Cpl. Klinger or Mrs. Doubtfire? Hardcore conservatives do a hell of lot more recruiting of young minds that anybody.

Except that Republicans, conservative media like Fox, and newer "independent" media that skews conservative, will just blame anyone else for it.

Some, particularly swing voters, will figure it out, but many are squarely locked into the MAGA mindset that no matter what happens, Trump/Republicans good, and any problems are the opposition, Democratic states, the deep state, other countries, certain ethnic groups, all immigrants or illegal immigrants etc etc.

Trump's second term looks to be more deja vu - gets his facts wrong , threatens/ implements action which is ineffective as he hasn't defined the issue properly. Keeps actions in place as he never admits he's wrong ( just doubles down).
He worsens the situation due to his propensity to just throw shit on the wall hoping it will stick.

We saw that with the "Chyna Tariffs" - the Trade deficit got worse , inflation got worse and he shaved ~1% off GDP.
His Administration lied about GDP during his first term. They put in quarterly estimates of GDP which were in the mid to high 2's - took the glory but never revealed to actual number openly once it was reconciled - typically results were 1-1.5% worse than forecast.
He is an Economic Idiot who has NFI about the complex interrelationships at play when you start tinkering with major policies.

Part of me wants to watch this cluster**** unfold in the US but the snowball effect on our economy, currency and interest rates will be severe so any sense of karma will be tempered by that.

To be fair, it's not dis-similar to the line the Conservatives take in the USA.

It's the typical line the Israeli government, conservative people and politicians throw out. They play the anti-semantic card every time there is valid criticism about the actions of the Israeli government. They all know very well the difference between hating Jewish people, and hating the war/government. Those two are not the same at all.

Yet any criticism is painted so in an attempt to make those who ask questions look bad. Dutton and Murdoch media used it here for the street protestors. Yes there has been a couple of anti semantic incidents, but that is the actions of a couple of individuals and nothing to do with the message from the thousands of others.

Questioning the direct words, action and history of some of the members of the current administration is valid. Sadly if you do make fair points on social media, you get smacked down hard by Israeli people or their supporters, saying you've been brain washed by western media. Which is cute, because Israel has lied and lied and lied, and spun, and spun, and spun all the time. And they don't even hide it. Remember the time they used stock footage from another war to claim Hamas was firing missiles into their territory, so they fired some "back"? Literally copied Goebbels propaganda machine.

In fact, from my own experiences. Israelis are the ones who have been brainwashed. Just like the Russians under Putin, the North Koreans, etc. State controlled media has a massive influence. Why else are right winged Billionaires in the USA trying to buy up all of social media and news? I mean America could launch a future war on Canada, say Canada attacked first, and almost the whole American population will be coached to believe it. The previous generations of Jewish people who went through the holocaust would be horrified by the actions of the current regime.

Of course the rules of this site would not permit it. But I would have posted dozens of on the ground footage by now documenting various war crimes, gunning down of unarmed civilians, direct words of Israeli politicians etc. Since pro Israel lobby groups are known to bribe social media giants to suppress any negative content out there. Stuff Israel tries so hard to hide.

One unrelated thing I find funny. Is that the hate for Jews is often associated with far right ideologies. Which funny enough you've had members of the KKK, fascist militias, who are typically Republican. Even a couple of people Trump is trying to give key roles to, one has nazi symbols as his tattoos. Yet at the same time, the biggest defenders of Israels war crimes, are typically conservatives. Who try so hard to paint anti war people, or left wingers as anti Jewish. When anti-antisemitism is literally a core part of far right wing ideologies. Funny how they are all silent on those people hey?

They've also spent two decades bashing on Soros, whose hate was started by a far right European politician who hates Jews. To use him as a scapegoat for not doing well in an election. Which ended up being picked up by other right winged people across the world, and turned into some big global conspiracy. Which is no different to "Jews being the elites", "controlling the world and the banks". Which are other favorite right wing points. Once again, deathly silent on their own anti antisemitism.

There must be a massive internal conflict going on in the Republican camp. Lead the dislike of Jewish people, but at the same time defend Israel, and deflect the antisemitism onto other groups. Hire actual nazis, but cry hate when people say war crimes is bad.

Republican senators have concluded (correctly in my view) if the appointments turn out terrible Trump will get the blame and not them up for reelection in 2026/28/30.
