I'm not saying everyone who disagrees with me is an idiot because that's just another right wing meme but if you're not a millionaire and you support Trump I think it's fair to question your motivation.

Thats fair, but I am not a millionaire, nor did I vote for Trump.

So i guess i cant give you the detail you seek.

To put it very simply i think a lot of people struggled financially under Biden, high inflation, cost of living etc etc, they wanted change. Whether or not Trump will make their lives better is a time will tell story.

Now were their assholes who are just racist and want Mexicans out of the country? Yes. That exists in some people also.

I suspect Australia will see similar people who have also struggled financially over the last few years, who will turn to Dutton. Whether that is a wise decision or not, I am sure it isn't.

I saw a street interview with a young American male who said he voted for Trump over Harris simply because DonOld appeared on Rogan and Kamala didn’t. Nothing to do with policy agreement / disagreement.

I get the similar feeling.

I'm just saying Bernie got screwed and would have been a good president in 2016, I firmly believe he would have beaten Trump, as for why people voted the way they did in 2024, not sure I can answer that. There is clearly a noticeable right-wing shift in many countries at the moment.

I do think the democrats not running a primary had some impact.

The Dems did have a primary. No-one with anywhere near enough popularity or status challenged Biden, so it was easier for the DNC to treat it as a fait accompli though.

Then when Biden withdrew the only choices were to have a contested convention or as it happened, Harris secured enough delegates to gain the nomination.
