My wife's family came to Australia from Central America as refugees in the late 1980s. My mother-in-law would vote for Trump if she could. Very religious, very conservative. My father came to Australia with his family as refugees fleeing the Soviets and my father voted Liberal in every single election from when he became a citizen and entitled to vote. It was interesting to see how the Hispanic vote in Florida in particular for Trump went up so markedly compared to the 2020 election. Both my mother-in-law and my father would strongly support Trump's policy on migrants, and I don't think they would be alone in that regard.
Honduras Island of Utila.
After recent visit Trump was still considered some sort of God like leader.
Hard to understand but that's thier choice of leadership.
Most of them work/live and get medical on the states.

And there it is in plain sight - you get a free pass from the Donald as long as you blow smoke up his orange orifice.
The only principle , morals and values he wants from others is total , unequivocal worship...............
This hasn't changed since 2016 so if you voted for him more fool you.

on the bright side with low-life addleheads in key positions, they with f**k the joint up to such an extent they’ll be out of office for decades and the u.s will no longer be regarded as a superpower. rather a laughing stock. they are well on the way now.

came across (pun intended) this .. a bill introduced in Mississippi that male emissions without the expressed aim of achieving a conception will be illegal and subject to fines.

Upon further examination was introduced by a DEM senator in order to highlight the hypocrisy, of an individuals right to their own body. it probably wont pass. But this will do the rounds on the socials soon enough.

It’s arguably more sinister than that. He - maybe intentionally, maybe not - is creating a militia prepared to be violent on his behalf, in the knowledge they will be beyond the justice system. He has pardoned them once; he can do it again.

Bit of an insurance policy in case he’s unable to secure the obedience of the actual armed forces to do his bidding?

Well, there certainly are some cooked units on either extreme end of the political spectrum.

The fact these right-wing people lack compassion in this specific instance isn't a surprise, I'm just surprised it took so little to get them riled up.
Most of the people riled up have no idea who she is or what she did.

They got the message, be riled up at this person, so they are.

So people have gone from supporting a socialist to a fascist because he was rejected by the Democrats. Cool story bro.

There are a couple of factors here:

A) some people just want change and don’t care or know about the specifics. Bernie appeals to vibes based voters for being anti establishment in the same way trump does. Obama also appealed to many of these vibes based voters.

B) some people are just disingenuous and trying to make out they aren’t conservative zealots by claiming they’d have supported Bernie

The only thing that suprises me is that Bernie was surprised Trump didn't mention a single one of those issues of vital importance to Americans.

Because everyone (except those who blindly voted for him, it seems) knows Donald Trump doesn't GAF about any of it.

Having said that, how beautiful to see a normal, no-BS humane human speaking normal, no-BS humanity in every sentence.

THAT is what a real human being looks and acts and behaves and talks like, Trump dupes!
i think the way he phrased it was to make his point.

IMO it's directly related to the pessimism that's completely overwhelmed young people (not just in the US, but in most of the western world).

People under 30 are realising the old promise that if you work/study hard, you'll be able get a good job, buy a house, start a family, retire etc. is no longer a reality.

And the career politicians (both Democrats and Republicans) are largely responsible for this crisis.

So when you're completely hopeless for your future, why not vote for the nutjob, he'll either be right and save everyone, or if not at least it'll be entertaining while the entire country collapses.

The democrats are complicit for not bothering to change the status quo, trying to do as little as possible that they thought they could get away with, without upsetting their donors.

As I said before, democrats ensure nothing good can happen and republicans ensure bad things will happen.

This is a little disingenuous. Biden suspended his campaign on 21 July. Harris announced her campaign on the same day, and Biden immediately endorsed her. Nancy Pelosi then endorsed Harris on 22 July. With those endorsing her, it would be pretty obvious that there was a lot of lobbying behind the scenes to ensure that the Democrat delegates supported Harris to avoid a contested convention (though there were some Democrats that wanted to hold a contested convention).
How is it disingenuous? After Biden withdrew, Harris secured enough delegates to pre-emptively get the nomination, avoiding a contested convention, which is what I referred to.

Delegates could have ignored endorsements, or someone else of note could have tried to challenge for their support, though realistically that was never going to happen in the circumstances where Harris was already on the presumptive ticket.

My experience is that those who enthusiastically support a politician whatever their colours, are invariably left disappointed

But trump is a cult, so it works the other way around. Those who enthusiastically support him will go wherever trump goes, thus can never be disappointed.

His supporters go wherever he flips flops or contradicts himself. They like him cos he’s anti war, but also cheer on bombing of Iran, drone strikes, doing a coup in Venezuela, bombing Mexico, taking over greeenland etc.

Trump is anti big government, but will happy if the US govt bought half of TikTok.

All about freedom of speech, but happy for any protestors to be shot in the legs and media organisations sued for going against him etc etc.

So basically you can never be disappointed if you just become a cult member and have no independent thought of your own.

****ers are going to airbrush history. Schools will be teaching about the fearless revolutionary St Donald & his army of martyrs who, against incredible odds overthrew the tyrannical oppression of the Nazi democrats.
