Just a reminder, even if it hasn't come up for a few pages and y'all should know this stuff by now:

This thread is not about Covid, lockdowns, or vaccines. It is about Donald Trump. While Trump was in office during the pandemic and his response to Covid is relevant, there are pertinent threads for you to post your opinions on those things in.

It might also do with reminding a few that when you post on the SRP, you are responsible for backing up/verifying your claims to fact. Do not post conspiracy theories on this forum. We have an entire other forum for that.

Thanks all.

Congrats Royces Hart on the new thread title!

Biden had cognitive disorder and was not aware of what he was doing.

His government were totally corrupt anyway.

Trump is helping create a private sector boom in jobs.

The things Trump and Elon are getting rid of are woke ideological things not the benefits to poor people.

But live in your own left-wing bubble and echo chamber.

Gee our Education system has a lot to answer for.
Umm:
The Trump administration’s frenetic policy changes appear to be making US businesses think twice about hiring new workers.

New data released Wednesday showed that hiring by US private-sector companies fell sharply last month, much more than economists had expected.

Private-sector employment increased by an estimated 77,000 jobs in February, according to payroll giant ADP. That’s a dramatic drop-off from the strong job growth of 186,000 seen in January and barely half the 142,500 net gain that economists had expected, according to FactSet estimates.

Yes, I know, I know...can't believe the mainstream media, need to get my info from a reliable source like your independent source below:

Nice try RCAB. But with some people you are wasting breath trying to reason.

As Phil Coorey said on ABC Radio just now - 'there are some who think there is hidden method in Trump's madness, well there's no method only madness'.

FFS - the idiot's now railing against our 10% GST, saying its the equivalent of a tariff and hurts American imports into Australia.

Trump has zero understanding of economics and his MAGA supporters have even less..

Take this idiocy from the White House :

Correct - from the people that know him, there’s no 4D chess, only the constant need to create conflict and chaos to ensure he stays in the headlines. This is how his reality TV brain works. Trump’s main interest is to be the most famous (or infamous) person in the world.

Can't remember, but the drop down box for what team for what team you barrack for is in Alphabetical order?

A troll is not going to scroll down to the other end of the options given
That is an excellent point and makes me feel better

The arguing, which lasted a few minutes, ended when Trump announced they were no longer taking questions.

“I think we’ve seen enough. This is going to be great television, I will say that,” Trump said, telling reporters to leave the room.

You can hate Trump, or you can love Trump.

But Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do before he was elected.

And a majority of Americans voted for him and wanted these policies.

To get American industry back on its feet and to stop the Ukraine/Russia war.
you really dont understand economic fundamentals do you? Go on, give it a crack, explain how current strategies/policies will increase economic activity. Lets start with tariffs?

The trouble is it isn't always efficient or sensible for all countries to manufacture the same things

If you have a look at the automotive industry in Northern America, an individual car is assembled across 3 different countries US, Canada and Mexico.

Business has decided to go that route because it made economic sense to tap into the economies of scale and comparative technology advantage of each country skills and cost effect when manufacturing a car

Imposing tarrifs in that environment completely mucks up what business has decided is efficient. The end result will be cars will simply cost more for the average American

This is one example of many. I'm not sure this is what Trump.voters want
It’s worse than that. Tesla sources its components and raw materials from at least 30–35 countries worldwide. The exact number fluctuates based on supply chain adjustments, geopolitical factors, and trade agreements. Virtually impossible for an automaker to mass produce vehicles internally without sourcing from overseas.

And if we are honest - he has actually achieved that , much to our chagrin.......

Because I think the conservatives on here are more reasonable than the majority of US nutjob Trump lovers, I'm curious to know if any of the right wingers on here still like Trump?
You haven't come across them all then?

There are whole threads of Trump is the greatest thing ever. Look at what he is doing in the US, it's amazing, we need some of that here.

Did you miss the part where he lied and disavowed Project 2025? Also can't quite remember any mention of threatening allies, tanking the economy and letting a foreign oligarch take over.

It's grievance politics pure and simple. In Trump you've got a man who's lived the most gilded existence imaginable yet all he can do is complain about how hard done he's been.

Most of this is empty rhetoric, but if Trump and Musk aren't cutting things that help ordinary people in order to save money to balance out the big tax cuts for rich people and corporations... how do the following fit?

  • dismantling the CFPB, an agency that has returned billions to Americans wrongly taken by financial institutions and scammers, with a much smaller budget than the returns
  • USAid cuts have screwed over farmers who were the suppliers, without notice or a transition plan
  • massive budget cuts forced on committees overseeing Medicaid, Food Stamps etc so they will absolutely have to cut in these areas to make their budget balance, but technically not a direct cut to these things so Republicans get their way without having to own up to it
  • rolling back NLRB rulings that favour workers e.g. resinstating non competes, and paralysing the board from doing its job
  • environmental and chemical regulatory rollbacks which will hurt people who live in the environment
  • placing a senior official into the EPA, overseeing chemical regulation/use, who had fought against regulation of formaldehyde (linked to cancer, respiratory issues)
  • executive orders rescinded which were trying to lower prescription drug costs
  • cuts to support/research funding for illnesses of firefighters who responded to 9/11
  • VA cuts thousands of workers, in an already pressured program delivering benefits and support to veterans, who aren't rich elites
  • cuts at the food division of the FDA in direct contradiction to statements about improving food safety and health
  • cuts to personnel investigating and responding to bird flu, which is a pressure on egg and poultry prices that Trump said were going to come down
  • FEMA cuts while people in West Virginia have been abandoned by federal (lack of) response to flooding
  • cuts to FAA, OHSA and nuclear energy/weapon personnel which increases safety risks of air travel, workplaces and nuclear facilities

These are just some examples.
This will not work.

It's literally why the love him. **** the poor people, they deserve what they get.

Some will say exactly that.

The slightly more political will run some bullshit of, oh but it will benefit them in the long run, once he has fixed America.

But what they mean is, fixing America IS, ****ing over the average guy, they are just self aware enough to know not to say it.

what he and the kleptos are doing is following the ruskie model. destroy the existing system and replace it with a private oligarch system. destroy democracy and institute a corrupt authoritarian model.
