Get ****ed Dusty you campaigner! Gun player but you are now coming across as a ****ing sook!

This is a smokescreen. Everyone who has a clue knows in their heart of hearts that Dusty will well and truly bounce back from last week’s performance. He’ll just adjust to the new reality of getting tagged. Boomer turned in the odd 5 disposal games from memory - usually followed by a 30+ performance. And Dusty is far better suited to handle taggers than Harvey ever was. Dimma is just hoping for a few cheap frees this week and he’s trying to pump up Dusty.

Who does he go to today? Shiel, Coniglio or Ward. they're all slightly different types that get a lot of the ball. Ward is the hard nut, Shiel the kicker/clearer, and Coniglio the guy that often gets the 1st handball out to the kicker/clearer.

On form this year you probably would say Coniglio. Be fine letting Cunners go head-to-head with Ward.

Yeah, I agree that Cunners goes head to head with Ward... I just had a look at the stats of the 3 and Coniglio is the consistent one whose had basically 26-30 possessions every match... But Shiel is a little more up & down and tends to have more of an influence over the game.

Is there a link to dusty’s Comments?.

Dunno mate but he said it live on stage during an interview at a fundraiser lunch the day before they left for Perth. It was shown on Fox Footy.

BJ took on the big dog tonite.

What I liked about his game was he realised at qtr time he couldn't contain Fyfe like he has his previous opponents - Fyfe is just too big, too good around the ball.

So he said stuff that I will hurt him the other way - and he did.

BJ adapted to the game - found a way to be a contributor.

Fyfe (and Dusty) will be the best BJ goes against. We now know we can count on BJ to contribute to the team effort even if his opponent is elite.

The whole point of tagging the oppo’s best midfielder is to obviously decrease their impact, but the other side of it is that it also penalises the team of the tagger, as they essentially lose a midfielder as well.

As soon as it was clear Fyfe wasn’t going to be tagged, Benny just matched him. He managed to neutralise Fyfe by simply doing what Fyfe was also doing - getting hands on the footy, looking to move it offensively and kicking goals. Although Fyfe had a great game, so did BJ. Props to him.

North Melbourne starts talks on new contract for in-form tagger Ben Jacobs

NORTH Melbourne has started contract talks with Ben Jacobs as his remarkable comeback becomes of one of the stories of the season.

Jacobs played only seven games in the past two years as he battled with multiple surgeries on a metatarsal fracture in his foot.

The first surgery wasn’t successful and he was only handed a one-year deal this year, aware he might be one more foot injury away from footy’s scrapheap.

But the No. 16 pick in the 2010 national draft is the AFL’s in-form tagger, not only shutting down opponents but also winning plenty of his own football this year.

The Roos are in talks with his management on a deal that will give him not only a pay rise but some security for his future.

He won 29 possessions and kicked a goal against Fremantle, this year blanketing Patrick Cripps, Dustin Martin, Tom Mitchell and Clayton Oliver.

North Melbourne is open to discussions with Jarrad Waite and Scott Thompson on their futures as they continue brilliant late-career form.

The pair were the last two players handed contracts for this year, with 25-year-old Waite the fourth-oldest player in the competition.

He kicked three critical goals in the latest win over Fremantle and had seven score assists, with Thompson excellent in defence.

The Roos believe Thompson, who turned 32 this month, is in equal form to his All Australian season of 2013.

Waite conceded this weekend he is only one serious injury away from retirement.

But if he can stay away from the soft-tissue and structural injuries of recent years he will at least push his case for another season.

The Roos have been prudent in their management of him, resting him in their rousing two-point win over Sydney.

Jed Anderson is another player enjoying a resurgence who will win a new contract because of his excellent form this year.

Brad Scott lauded Jacobs’ shutdown jobs recently, even if Nat Fyfe was able to break free in the loss to the Roos.

“He’s a unique player. He’s a first-round pick, he’s not just a guy who tries to go and blanket the opposition.

“He was a very high possession winner as a junior and he can do that at AFL level as well.

“Leigh Matthews used to say that role players, more than anything, have to accept the role they’re playing.

“It’s about valuing the role and how much we as a team value the role.”

I wish.

Fyfe should have tagged Jacobs, they may have had a chance at winning ;) :p
Id argue Fyfe was almost reckless in his accountability for Jacobs after quarter time.
He turned the ball over that resulted in the costly Atley goal.
