Yeah it should've been a freekick. But there were freekicks during the game resulting in goals that you shouldn't have got and vise versa. What makes one less acceptable than the other. If you want to change 1 decision then you need to change them all.

The difference is that it's impossible to know the outcome by changing any of the other frees because of the chain of events. As this was literally the last event of the game it can be evaluated in a vacuum. This is obvious right?

I don't want the 4 points for the post shaking, we don't deserve it, that being said, Sydney should be punished and not get 4 points so we can both be losers.
An umpiring mistake at the end of a game is no difference to one in the middle of a game. With that logic you'd need to strip a win off every team who were gifted a goal at any point on the game due to umpiring.

I'd quite happily take the free kick and have him kick it ootf. We didn't deserve to win that game but stupid behaviour should be punished.

Anyway, this is our autopsy. Leave us to melt in peace.

Another year of the same old inept shit

Absolute waste of a year

How if the **** Zac Clarke keeps getting games is beyond me. I am convinced he has a sex tape of worsefold

We have basically no fit talls. Even Bellchambers was questionable.

If Draper hadn't done his knee last week I'm sure he would have played instead.

Clarke is effectively a break-in-case-of-emergency player. And right now we have an emergency.

Surely for the love of **** Bellchambers can rotate with Ambrose when he needs a break.

Anything is better than putting Clarke in. It is literally playing 17 vs 19

Again though, that’s the club’s fault. If you’re not gonna play Draper in the 3 years he’s healthy, don’t sook about depth when he goes down injured (the club, not you).

No, there is a difference. A free kick missed earlier in the game COULD affect the result (butterfly effect). But this one DID affect the result. If it's paid we win, if it isn't we lose. Because it happened on the siren, there is no way to recoup from it. This decision directly affected the final outcome of the game.

Who cares if we deserved to win or not. I'd rather have the undeserved 4 points than nothing. But the umpire missed an obvious free kick at the death.

Well we were cheated out of that.

Did we deserve to win? No.
Should we have won? Yes.

Once again, a result decided by completely incompetent umpiring.

There's no two ways about this. You can't say "it had no effect on the kick", because that is completely irrelevant. You shake the post, it's a free kick at the top of the goalsquare.

That's the rule, hard and fast, taken directly from the AFL's own rule book.

There's no other way of looking at it, plain and simple.

I'm looking forward to the umpiring department saying that "it was the correct decision".

Essendon getting reemed by the umpires? Since when?

Golly gosh

If the umpire doesn’t even penalise a guy for CLIMBING the ****ing post while Myers is having a shot what hope can we ever have of a fair game

Were they saying it wouldn’t have affected the result of the game?
Apparently so, yeah.

So the umpires have no clue either.

I'm hoping Xavier gives Gil a call. This sort of shit may very well cost us a finals spot.
