This is why the clarko allegations have come out at the worst possible time

And all of it could very well likely be false and we keep clarko but costs us anyway

At least if it were after trade period we’d have our list set and time to resolve prior to the next trade period

Instead we have uncertainty

Russell Jackson the glory finding journo hope he gets a fat lawsuit coming his way when this is all done

Sorry for the intrusion, I had to post this - this is ridiculous:

So what? Like JHF is? Why should that make a difference? Port calling the kettle black!

Lol. You do not have to be fair and reasonable over a contracted player, esp pick #1 after one season!

I hope you're unfair and totally, totally unreasonable in your demands.

FWIW I hope you ream Port and demand they come up with a top 3 pick and first round player, or two top 5 picks.
They are dreaming if they think they can low ball for him

This has probably been said plenty of times already - this thread moves at lightning pace and I can't keep up - but how is an opposition club able to talk to a contracted player; one in his first ever contract in the first year after he is drafted; and offer him a 4 year contract at $800000 pa, to break the second year of his current contract and without his current club made aware that they are in discussions until they announce he wants to leave?

At the very least it is highly unethical and it may be that in the longer run, some opposition clubs will just be a little more cautious when dealing with Port Adelaide. At least I hope so.

Now a left field thought, not necessarily one that I believe we should do; but assuming the rules allow it, should we offer him 5 years at say $750k a year, or just match Ports offer?

I'm not in favour of it, for all of the signs/behaviours we have seen since he was drafted, but I also hate what he, his manager and Port have conspired to do.

This could be the reason why, it’s not beyond belief that talks with both port and north have been ongoing prior to its release last night, prominent port people have been saying for a couple weeks there’s a big trade going on that hasn’t come out yet.

I’m not convinced he he was ever staying beyond his first contact.

knowing our luck Caro will write a hit piece on North quoting mental health and holding a teenager hostage. Then the AFL will step in and force a trade because mental health is huge etc. etc.

North aways the trendsetters that get rules changed.
my guess is there would already be a venomous piece written that just needs dating and cutting and pasting,

As if this only became an issue last week, so Port managed to do a sneak interview, put an offer together all in under 7 days because of Clarko uncertainty.

BULL ******* s**t!!
And managed to find $3.2m down the back of the couch. Yeah right.

Nah, he got up at the BnF and talked about his future at North. He only told the club at the end of last week.

Pretty poor character. Don’t know who his manager is, but they have zero class and zero credibility.

Don't know that some change is required there.

End of the day, I'd rather have JHF on the list but if we are to trade and got Sinn, (Humpheries, or by a miracle Cadman) with Pick 8, and we bank the future first that would be reasonable.

What we lack is marketable players, that's what JHF is. If a team is giving up a marketable player (who attract prime time slots etc) then any trade needs to value that.
He’s only marketable cause he was pick 1, pretty generic looking kid who didn’t produce. We got rid of Majak, Brown, Boomer and Dal who probably would 100x more marketable if that’s why we cared.

That would work if he wasn’t demanding to go to Power and instead just told the club to get him back to SA.

He can’t play the hard done by struggling kid that just wants to get home, but only to one club.

It'll be interesting. Vic media vs. Vic media hating north. Who wins. i can't wait to read all the articles telling us that 2 first round picks is fair. AFL media pushing the narrative of what we need to accept just like they did with CCJ

The last player to pull a move similar to this was Des Headland
He was the consensus number one pick in he’s draft year, but stated openly he wanted to play for Freo
IIRC he even walked into his interview with with Brisbane with freo jumper on, Freo had a top 3 pick iirc
Lions said bad luck we’re taking you at pick one and you can play for us for two years and then you can do whatever you want.
There’s actually quiet a few similarities with JHF and Headland situation, the main difference is Headland was total honesty about what he wanted and didn’t care about being the number one pick.

I can only imagine what is being said on trade radio.

I wish Clarko didn’t have to remain silent at the moment.

I'd willingly burn him.

Sit him in the 2's and let him go to whoever gets in first when his contract is up.

You lack integrity and respect, then you get none in return.
