Nope - if we can get something high teens I wouldn't hesitate. if not, keep him.
Well, the odds of getting high teens pick for Hansen is very low unfortunately, which is just as well, because that would mean that we are trading out 3 talls capable of playing forward in the same trade period, to be replaced by 18 year old kids. That means we go from a strong situation of depth for talls, to a position of weakness. Dumb, dumb and dumb. Hansen's value to us is much higher than it is to any other club, and as such we will not get what we want if he is to leave.

Would be furious with him if he left. He has been offered 900k over 3 years.

Sorry Lachie, you don't deserve any more than this.
If that is the case he should take it straight up. Maybe insert a renegotiation clause after years one and two dependent on performance criteria.

Fair point but this kid hasn't delivered so if he is making big calls on money, bye. Might have a great 2013 and I hope he does if he stays but right now don't see him making demands beyond what he has delivered.

Or take a 12 month contract if he wants to back himself.
I'm guessing he is looking for security now that he has a family. A serious injury while on a one year contract would put him in a precarious position.

I'd argue that his second half of 2012 was pretty good, and extrapolated out over the course of a season is a 40 goal year. I think he will likely come around and take what has been offered, which is decent enough.

I'm not interested in going to the effort of educating mugs any more.

I trust that the football department aren't as stupid as many here. They have careers to protect.

Who put the contract together that he does not like? He either has too great opinion of himself or the football club does not have high enough opinion of him.

He can walk and we get nothing - would rather put him in a trade that would benefit us.

Pretty good in part is about it - no arguments. But hasn't delivered anywhere enough for my liking. He may well continue to develop and become a great player - I hope so. But right now he is a good average player.

Who just so happens to be very important structurally, especially considering the other mooted trades.

I think the delay is with Lachie and completing his due diligence. He reckons he needs a few more weeks as he is having trouble finding a Uni that offers that course.

He is, and we've invested a heap of time into him.

Having said that, if we got a good offer, I'd probably take it.

It'd have to be a cracker.

He is tall and takes an opposition player away from Petrie - while still being able to hurt the opposition if a spud is put on him. But he is not a match winner.

McIntosh 3 years ago was important structurally and now we have watched his value plummet.

At some point, you've got to move on imo, I've been one of Lachie biggest supporters over the last 7 years, but I can safely say, he won't be the player we want/should of been imo, it's nothing physical, a lack of resources, development coaches or any of that crap, he simply suffers from a similar ailment to that of Gav Urquhart.

He just doesn't have it upstairs to be a champion footballer imo.

The last two pre-seasons he has not been able to put on size due to back and shoulder injuries and surgery. He has shown signs of being a good key forward, no champ, but a good consistent forward. Petrie is 30 and doesn't have too long left, maybe 3 years. Tarrant is no sure thing, Pedo going, H going, Daw a chance to make it only, Curran yet to debut, Black not a KPF size. So lets get rid of Hansen too. <insert rollyeyes here>

For other reasons, namely injury.

If we started moving on every player who wasn't a "champion footballer" we'd be left with Boomer, Wells, Petrie and Swallow.

And you will soon find that without his excellent support team, that Petrie would no longer be such a 'champion' either.

Risk and reward. Pick 14 won't get Caddy done and Hansen could walk out the door for zero.

H is still with us and could play Hanen's role. Pedo is still with us - actually all our talls are.

We'll have to wait and see. We will more than likely not get anything in trading him that will assist our bid for Caddy so moving him on for a pick that does not help that deal is just dumb.

Hence, the "only if the offer was good".

But we are talking about 1 Ok player that is not happy with a contract that could potentially bring in our next Boomer, Wells or Swallow.

Also Caddy is best friend with David Swallow and they have vowed to play together again:D

I still think he'll make an elite CHB. He will never be a gorilla but has long arms to get a fist in and can run all day. I actually think his field kicking is pretty good even if his decision making isn't always fantastic. Only time he really plays with any aggression is in the backline and we are screaming out for a bloke his size and mobility to play there.

I understand the coaches think forwards of his calibre are really hard to find but play him where he is at his best. He can shift forward when Petrie retires if needed.

Three pronged attack next year should look like:

Petre
Tarrant
Pedersen/Daw/Mabon

The day we got smashed against St Kilda and Roo kicked 7 was Lachie's best by far. He is a true backman, not proactive enough to be a forward.
