Barrett put it this way. North have given him a contract that is not to his liking, he is holding off, the club is meeting with other clubs today which may generate some interest which in turn may force North to up their offer. If no one looks to trade for him what other options does Lachie have?

Well give him some more....he has a right to want more money.... as long as its not over the top cloke money...
Thomo was unhappy last year... Boomer this year....

I would have thought a few clubs would love him if he was openly available. GCS, Saints, Dogs, Lions would surely have some interest. Hopefully North just give him an extra 50k or so and sign him

Pretty much confirmed what has been said in this thread so far. No known interest but isnt happy with North's offer so clubs may come calling

Surely the club's offer would be reasonable?

Must be getting advice from his manager that he might get way more at another club. Or Lachie thinks he is Wayne Carey. Or combination of both.

I reckon this would be on the money. North doing quiet due diligence for Lachie to assess whether his contract expectations are market level.

If he goes he should expect to get the ire of the crowd next year. North have put a lot of faith in him over the duration, and turning his back on the club when he is on the verge of top level productive footy would be very ordinary.

Barrett saying NMFC shopping Hansen around today. Surely not
There is a distinct difference between shopping someone around and being open to offers for him.

We are all going to spew if they trade him. Im annoyed they are even open to offers unless they are for out and out proven guns
It would have to be a bloody good trade.

Could be a ploy to get him to sign, show he's not worth as much as his manager thinks he is.

Don't get me wrong I want him to stay.

I recall H being shopped around a few years ago and there was little interest, hopefully the same will apply to Lachie.

My thoughts as well.

Club likely said go ahead and test the waters, then get back to us.

To be fair to the club, Lachie has shown potential but shouldnt really be expecting huge $$ yet. Should sign a 2 year contract and back himself to start dominating and earn a pay rise. Doesnt deserve one yet.

Dont want him traded though
Yes correct... maybe we said go and see how much other clubs offer you... he takes a look around if its alot more we let him go if its about on the money or a little more than we pay and sign..... unless there is something else to it.... coaches crap being talked about.... IDK

standard operating procedure when out of contract and negotiating a new one is for manager/player to express disappointment with initial salary offer i would have thought, just have to go through the motions of negotiating the new deal to all parties satisfaction,if not, then worry about alternatives later
