I was just coming to post this myself..

Brilliant!

And yes I would assume that Sinclair has now signed also (tho would be nice if it was confirmed)

Wahoo..

Smith.. SIGN!

Geez, his agreed to the terms but still hasn't sign the agreement, what's he waiting for, just sign...

Lets bloody hope Sinclair has sign...

Refreshing to hear some good news! If they're the only players now out of contract it's strange that they don't put out an email to members or something confirming that Sinclair,Petrie, the Motlops etc etc had all signed. Now lets extend Boomer's contract before next year so it's all hands off!!

He's probably waiting for the contract to be written so he can sign it. All contracts are different and would take some time to write up.

Although good news it shows one thing...passionate NM supporters are desparately interested in resigning news and the club doesn't think that they are. No updates, no emails to say 'it's going ok'. Maybe we should get word to them that the best North supporters (us!) think that this should change.

Anyway hopefully Grant staying on for another three years adds a bit of stability in light of recent events.

The club should concerntrate their efforts on signing up Sinclair & Colbert. Shane Clayton is not worth the effort.

By the looks of it Sinclair is signed.. its Smith, Colbert and Clayton that arent accordin to realfooty..

I'm sure we could live without clayton on our list....colbert and d.smith are the ones i'd be concentrating on....and it looks to me as though money so much isn't the major concern with these players. it's the stability of a long term contract....the club may have been wanting a 2 year contract with grant, and he wanted a three year....that sort of thing....i don't think money is a great issue with these boys...d.smith especially would be wanting a 2 year contract while the club would probably be pushing for a 1 year...

Why aren't these three signing??

Smith is good young kid but does he think he will find another club where he will get a game straight away?

Leigh Colbert will become the most hated man on earth if he leaves us and Clayton we may as well delist now

Gee, this news is actually about us AND it is good news! Bit surprised to see this and i wondered if it was actually true considering the stuff about us this season, so tis good to read somethign like this.

I am very happy to hear this because i think his experience in the midfield is going to be very important to us next season. With us playing alot more of the kid's next season it's time for Grant to take on a leadership role at the club and hopefully develope into the elite midfield player we know he is capable of becoming. Also i hope we resign Smith i would hate to see him go to another club and become a very good player for them because i believe he will be a very good player.

well we know where micks pay packet has gone who do we sack next to keep the other three.

great news that grant is staying on as he is a great player on his day,

We do tend to overeact about "unsigned" players. Many times the issues holding up the signing are very minor, and simply need all the parties to get together to reach agreement.

I would be be very surprised if the three outstanding unsigneds according to the press are not playing for the Kangaroos next year.

I would also think that most clubs have one or two players in similar situations.

i don't think it was really like that. i don't think micky was on that much this year anyway. i guess if we really wanted to save abit on the salary cap we could have put micky back on the veterans list.

true but money saved is money that can be used to tie up lplayers who have a long career ahead of them, and that can only be for the good of the club.

draft players start on a lot less than what mick might of been on ?

I would be dissapointed if Clayton wasn't signed up. I think he was greatly misused by Pagan and should be a valuable receiving player under JYD. Clayton was a good player for us in a number of games last year.

I'll start this off by declearing that I've been one of Grant's biggest critics. I'm hard on him not simply because of who he is, but because we traded one of our greatest sons (Schwatta) to get him (which I'll nevert get over, but now that Schwatta has retired every game he plays for us is a bonus).

Over the years, with the exception of 2001 (which I thought was sensatinsal) I've thought he has been prone to laziness and this has been evident by how inconsistent he can be. Hot and cold, not only from week to week, but from quarter to quarter.

What i liked about him on Saturday was that he started slow but bulit up and worked himself into the gane. I've not seen him do that often and in the end he was our most influential player in the second half, IMO.

This is uncharacteristic. Usually he would drop his head if he didnt play well early and if he wasnt in the game in the firsat half, forget it, he wasnt likely to make an impact from then on. But on Saturday it looked to me that he meant what he's said pre season about assuming an on field leadership role, becaue when the going got tough he really had an influence.

Now, i'm hard on him, BUT... if Shagga has a good year I think we will definately make the eight because if he is in form he adds a classy dimension to our midfield and we start to look competitive against teams like Brisbane and the Crows...

I'v been burnt before, but I hope he can string together several games at a time. My only worry is that he'll rob Brownlow votes from Sinclair (who I have money on)... :).

What did others think of his game? Is he looming large for another year like 2001?

i reckon he's in for a big year....new coach, new gameplan, no worries!

i don't like the idea of having sinclair play on the wing though, I much prefer him on the hbf where he gains easy possessions and uses the ball brilliantly. I loved it in the first quarter? where he tried to take everyone on in the 50 to kick a goal and only just got tackled. My friend said "geez sinclair thinks he's god" then a couple of minutes later he bursts through again and kicks a goal with his right (and non prefered foot) from roundabouts 50 m! haha i kept calling him god from then on...hehe :D
