Ahh shit, literally shit.

I am disappointed with that. Stay straight simmo, come back to north in a few years.

****, now it's hard to say Hawthorn are a classless club when Simmo is at that club now.

I ****ing hate his decision and have absolutely no respect for it and my love for the bloke diminishes a WHOLE lot.

Let's not forget Rossy Smith, who's already there. We can forget Clarko though. I now remember him as the ex Melbourne player!

Good move for Simmo, although personally, I would rather he went to Collingwood or Geelong.
He will do his coaching aspirations no harm at Hawthorn though.

Do you really think he would give a **** what you think of him?

It is his dream to be a senior coach and this is one stepping stone towards reaching that dream.

I don't care what club he goes to because it is all about Simmo and not my hatred of the Hawks.

Is that what you think will happen?

Well how else would it happen?

If Brad Scott wins us a flag how does Simmo get the job as North coach and coach us to a flag?

Good on Simmo for making the move...he gives the impression of being shrewd and whilst I would have loved him at North id suggest that firstly getting exposure at another club and assisting an established coach will help him more long term.........

its a big ask at the hawks....the pressure will be on next year.....good luck Simmo......

Congrats to Simmo on securing the spot with a club that has a reasonable culture and a winning attitude (you don't know how much it hurt to admit those things). I'd much rather see Simmo there than at Richmond.

Hopefully he'll pick up some valuable experience and then bring it back to North in years to come.

He had to go to another club. He would have stagnated staying at North. He wants to learn about coaching and the best way to do it is to have exposure to a different environment.

As for where he's gone, as much as we hate to admit it, Hawthorn are a well run club with a proper football tradition. Much better than Simmo ply his trade there than at the Dockers or Power.

I don't remember this sort of reaction when Laidley first went to Collingwood!

FORMER North Melbourne midfielder Adam Simpson has joined the Hawks as an assistant coach for season 2010.

The dual premiership player and former captain retired from playing in July this year following a decorated 306-game career, and will join Alastair Clarkson’s coaching team as a midfield coach.

The much sought after Simpson brings to Hawthorn a wealth of experience as a former player who is also a strong student of the modern game.

RETIRED North Melbourne midfielder Adam Simpson has signed with Hawthorn as an assistant coach for the 2010 season.

The Hawks confirmed on Friday night that Simpson, 33, had agreed to join Alastair Clarkson's staff and take control of the side's midfield.

The role had been held by Damien Hardwick until he was awarded Richmond's senior position late last month.

Simpson played 306 games in 15 seasons for the Kangaroos, including the 1996 and 1999 premierships, and captained the side from 2004 to 2008.

He won All Australian honours and the club's best and fairest award in 2002.

Simpson announced his retirement ahead of the round 18 clash with Carlton and said at the time he would pursue a career in coaching.

He took part in a pilot program with the AFL Coaches Association this year and spent the last four weeks of the season working with North's coaches and football department
