After last night, I feel like we can all unite in agreeing Nein should never be allowed within a bulls roar of the TV rights ever again.

Standard def for the first session and a half, app crashing, cutting back to the panel and ads after every wicket. Absolute arse.

I love trying to scroll though towards the end of a session replay on the app and triggering 6 separate blocks of ads.

I legitimately put the phone down, mowed the lawns and they were still going once I was done.

****ing horrific, 7 not any better.

Usman Khawaja has joined Fox Cricket. His stint at Fox will start when the 50 over World Cup begins in October.

Here is Khawaja's' statement on joining Fox Cricket: "l love cricket and I love analysing the game. I have always wanted to stay a part of the game when I finish up playing and commentating just seemed the perfect fit. I‘ve always enjoyed Fox Cricket’s coverage. Fox Sports was the first thing I’d put on in the morning as a kid, so the affiliation with the company was a bit more sentimental for me. On top of that, working alongside a world-class commentary team and my mate Dave Warner is something that really excites me and I can‘t wait”.

Fox Sports Executive Director Steve Crawley had this to say about Usman Khawaja joining Fox Cricket: “Usman is one of the most respected and resilient cricketers in the world. He has an opinion and he’s not afraid to share it. Having him and David Warner continue their partnership in our commentary box will be a great win for fans.”

I reckon Fox will offer Nathan Lyon a deal to join their setup whenever the man known as ''Garry'' pulls up stumps on his test career.

The buried lede here is that Cardoons is staying on their commentary team.

Why? Fox Sports started when he was about ten years old, so if you were a sports lover as a kid/teenager, why would you watch anything else?
the offerings that Fox Sports would have had back then pale into comparison vs the choices now (depending on what specific year/s Khawaja is referencing). also, Fox8 had Simpsons all the time (with no ads in the early days).

They've already released the fixture and I'm pretty sure tickets are already on sale

Yeah this.

But CA is about to tender for rights to matches, and they'll want the MCC to pay up. They get an enormous benefit out of Boxing Day being at the MCG and if they want it to continue, either they or the Victorian Government need to come to the party.

You need Samsung tv to get it?

I have heard bad things about their smart tv having to sit through their ads just to use your own tv * supporting that crap.
I haven't seen that, but their internet channels do have annoying blocks of ads. They do have an Iron Chef channel (the dubbed version), so that is fun.

Never thought I'd say this, but I've enjoyed Ravi Shastri on Fox. Certainly an interesting and rather surprising choice but he is a much better commentator in this neutral capacity. He's only doing this Test I believe.

Can't say the same about Hayden and Langer on Seven. They are the ultimate trigger for me to change to Fox.

I like Ravi as a commentator, he's knowledgeable and insightful, even for India's games he is quite measured and critical of them at times.

You can see why he was a great coach for India.

Interesting to hear him say today that he considered playing for WA in the Sheffield Shield back in the 80s.

That seems unthinkable now but overseas stars played in the Sheffield Shield back then like Botham, Garner and Holding just to name a few.

It used to be close between the 2. 7 by getting Langer and Hayden has started to head towards late Channel 9 territory. Meanwhile Fox have improved with Shastri and even Smith

It is now Fox by a long way

Ch7 have some good commentators like Ponting, Tim Lane, Brayshaw, Katich etc but they seem to get less shifts than Langer and Hayden.

It's like the Ch7 cricket coverage producers have decided that we love listening to Langer and Hayden so try to have one or both on all day.

Fox will even things up though when Warner retires and joins their commentary team, he can match Langer and Hayden for annoyance value
