Totally agree with 'earning your spot/who does he push out' etc, etc, but also worried it will give potential suitors some leverage. Bit of a balancing act.

Hobbs is one of those small nuggety midfielders that doesn't have a 1 wood.
He needs to be a very reliable midfielder that does everything well. At the moment he's not quite that.
He doesn't offer anything more than any other midfielder ahead of him atm.

I think he does - attitude. I’m not arguing for or against his inclusion today, however, he’s got a stronger will to win than almost all our midfielders IMO. Obviously I don’t know this for sure but just reading into how he goes about his footy. Merrett also has a strong will but we’ve seen him let himself down in a couple of finals before so hopefully that’s out of his system now that he’s captain. It seems to be.

He'll kill it as the sub today.

7 tackles and 20 disposals coming.
I Hope Please GIF

Not a smart sub, he either plays from the start or not at all

Poor choice from Brad
Who the **** else would you have had as a sub though? Hind wouldn't have added shit to this game. Jones would've been a good one if Scott knew beforehand that Lav would go down, but you can't predict things like that.

Hobbs as the sub was the right call.

Run and carry from Hind would have added plenty.

Not in the last when we're having to shift magnets around to cover the hole in the backline created by Laverde having to be subbed out with the shoulder injury.

The reality is, Hind's a cherry on top of a well made sundae as a sub. Didn't move the needle against St Kilda when he came on and wouldn't have today.

He has to be able to get out and run. I have no idea what kind of runner he is, but if he’s not quick and not elite aerobically he’s going to struggle. My honest opinion.

One match last year he was one of the quickest timed on ground in terms of km per hour - approx 32.5. Not sure aerobically but I don't recall him looking like he was going to blow up in his first season.

Tough ask, brought him on late in the game and looked to struggle to get with the pace of it. Not really the kind of player you bring on for a short burst impact.

Had earned a spot, probably should have been in the final team from the outset with a runner like Hind or Davey Jnr as the sub who can impact in a shorter space of time.

Hopefully gets a full game at AFL level against Geelong as a few of the players will need to be managed on the short turnaround anyway.

I recall this, he may well be a strong runner, it’s hard to pinpoint any testing etc to refer to.
