Another year of approx 800k to go on his contract after this…. Which isn’t really a bad thing is it? He’s just protecting even more cap space we will have access to end of next season, and we don’t need it now.

I think we front loaded it.

Who says no other player gets an injury or has a form slump. Twenty third best midfielder in the comp this year before he got injured . They should look at the options at the end of the year for sure however there are a lot of twists and turns in football as we all know.

Is there anything a club could offer that youd accept for him?

I still think he could play with Hobbs, Caldwell, Zerrett, Parish, Perk, Stringer, Durham, Martin in the same side
He’s got 1 year left on his deal. I’d assume due to our cap position we’ve brought money forward the past 2 seasons. With all those names you mentioned, if they’re playing well he’s not getting midfield minutes and I don’t want shiel taking minutes away from any of them, plus tsatas to come. I think st Kilda would take him in a heart beat for a cheap trade. They desperately need someone with juice in the middle.

As much as people are negative about him, the fact that younger guys are going past him is a good thing. Shiel is a good AFL midfielder, not the out and out star we were hoping for when we traded for him, but better than most.

If he's being pushed to the outer because Hobbs and Caldwell are going past him, and Tsatas is rapidly gaining ground, then it means we have depth in case of injuries, and that the young guys are actually good players.

If we were to part, which club would he suit? Could be a nice player to help standards at the Suns? He's a pro.
Dees.
Oliver injury has severely tested the quality of their depth whilst in a window.
Reckon Shiel can help them win a flag again too.

Gawn Oliver Viney
Hunter Shiel Langdon is quality and unleashes Tracc at HF.

You didnt answer the question, what would you accept to do the deal?

So let's get this straight...

We have been moaning about a lack of quality midfielders and overall depth through the middle of the ground for the last, what, 20 years?

So now we have finally developed that depth and have multiple decent mids that look like they will have to compete to get in/stay in the team, we want to trade that depth (in the form of a perfectly professional, talented player we can afford to keep) away?

For what? Late 2nd or 3 Rd round pick?

This ****ing fan base, I tell ya
