An absolute champion, he's last quarter today was sensational.

On the wrong side of 30 and the old timer just keeps producing. He has been great this season so far, and for some reason is still underated by all.

This guy has seriously been underated throughout his career, and its about time he recieved the credit he deserved.

Would have to be in top 5 in and under hard nut midfielders this decade.

I really think he is an ordinary, lowly-talented but highly-determined player who has been extremely lucky to play at AFL level. Must've been a 'right place at the right time' scenario as he seemed to slot in well to the slow/lacklustre Collingwood midfield of the time perfectly. Never seems to put his hand up when it counts.

Sir Scott Burns (genuflect, genuflect) has a heart the size of phar lap. I love watching this bloke play, he sets the kind of example on the field every team would love to see.

Agree completely. A totally unassuming guy who bleeds for the club every time he plays. Knows no other way than straight at the footy and is always an inspiration when it's most required. Only wish the Crows had picked him up.:thumbsu:

I've been saying that he is our most influential player for ten years....
A measure of how important he has been to the side is his ability to slow the game down in midfield and turn the game into a war of attrition if the opposition get a run on thru the midfield....In a game against the bulldogs last year the dogs were hammering us thru the midfiled with their pace and clean possession ..the game was turning into a shootout in the first half that we couldn't win.....Malthouse put burnsy in the midfield and turned it into trench warfare until we got on top...then when we got on top in the second half he opened the game up for our half back line to run through the middle......when hes in the middle hes there to control the flow of the game for us.....bottle it up when we need it..or open it up when we need it....totally under rated

you are right...must have been in the 'right place at the right time' on over 200 occasions, how freaky is that

I don't think he is anything like a Carlton player

Will always remember him for his backfiring attempts to be tough in the 2002 and 2003 grand finals.

2002 Burns tries to put Voss down with a big bump on the 50 metre arc, Voss bounces back up like a rubber ball, dives into the pack, picks up the ball, handball to Simon Black... goal! Lions players run up to Burns and let him know all about it.

2003 Burns levels out Jonathan Brown in a blatant professional foul at the opening bounce. This just makes the already wounded Lions see red and sets the tone for the rest of the game. Collingwood become the Lions plaything across the paddock for the rest of the day, get smashed round the packs and their skills crumble as Lions trounce them comfortably in the end. Jonathan Brown even kicks a couple of late goals to cap it off.

Good times.

didn't take long for that to be raised, both bumps were fair, simply gives as good as he gets does sir scott

if roles were reversed voss and j.brown wouldn't have hesitated running thru burns, and burns would have got up, just like voss and j.brown did

I didn't say the bumps were illegal (though the Brown one is highly doubtful).

I'm just saying that they didn't have the desired result. Maybe he should have tried to get the footy instead.

And it is that kind of talent spotting that has seen Carlton dominate the league in the past five years.

Oh wait hang on...............

He is highly respected within the football internity, that's all that matters. Ray Shaw told his sons to stick close to Burns so they can learn off him.

Nathan Buckley will be seen as a big loss to Collingwood, same as Sir Scott - rare to find club champions of the same ilk as these two.

what is the desired result of a bump?? to knock ur opponent off his feet........this happened didn't it??

Just because Voss and J.Brown are as brave as they come has nothing to do with Burns really
