What's the story with this rotating captaincy? It has been a disaster this year with Riewoldt not performing well at all.

Everybody knows Hamill should be captain for the next 3 years, and Riewoldt, Hayes or Ball captain there after.

Hey Terry wats it to you Who apart from you said that. Did the stkilda footy club come out and say that cos i have searched everywhere and cant find it why do u worry about who is the captain of the saints? u really need to worry about your own club

This year has proven what a success it is.

We don't just have 1 captain, we 8-10. This showed after Riewoldt went down and Bally stepped in, if you watch the games you see hayes, hamill, harvs, jones all speak to the younger blokes if there is a mistake.

Each one of leadership group brings a certain aspect of leadership. As well as the leadership group there is also old timers like the G-Train, Harvs, thommo, powell and peckett.

Riewoldt is carrying an injury and thats why hes not as dominant. Groin or something around that area.. they said what it was during the comentary against port last week but i cant remember what the injury was exactly
I dont think its the captaincy that isn't making him play well. The saints will be a different side after the split round break, they need it.

Hamill has been injured anyway so it wouldn't really make that much difference if he was captain because someone else would have stand in for him.. but you are right, if they didn't have the rotation system hamill would still be captain.
I like the rotation though... they are focusing on letting all the players have a chance to be leaders and have an input. There are so many people in the leadership group over there even the coaching is a shared effort.
Riewoldt will be back dont worry about that. Hopefully in time for the saints to give you tigers another serving.

Hey Terry I hope it's not only you that can see this. Ball was good as a fill in and Nick is one of the best players .However I agree Hamill is our best leader and should have been captain this year. put your best players one the ground and Hamill to leed them onto the ground. Game over! Wave the flag!

The rotating captaincy is working well, but thanks for asking

Stay tuned for Luke Ball to get the job in `06, then the rotation will mysteriously stop ! :)

I believe the rotation is good to give a few players a sense of pride about the club and realise that it is up to them to give direction and drive to the club, and hopefully each captain learns from their year and continues to act like a captain.

Essentially there will be 4 or 5 'captain-like' figures around the ground to give direction to the team.

If i were to choose a captain out of the previous years, it'd be Hamill without doubt.
