"Ablett skips Cats' final pitch"

Or, less cynically (and probably less realistically), he might have found himself unimpressed with GC's bid to the point that he has already decided he'll stay with Geelong, and didn't need to hear their final bid?

I know I'm a neutral, and I really want GC (and GWS) to succeed, but I also really want to see Gablett Jnr stay at Geelong.

The fact that he's even considering GC highlights to me that his heart isnt with GFC any longer.

GONE./

True, unfortunately. But for the emergence of GC, I doubt whether Ablett would ever have thought about ever leaving the Cats

I heard bomber Thompson's wife threw her drink at Liam Pickering at the Geelong post season function and he was told he could never ever do business on Geelong premises again.

Sad way to end for the favourite son.

I believe it may have been after the game on the Friday!

ive accepted it some time ago..im focusing now on the compensation

the AFL better give geelong a top 5 pick for him...its a joke if they dont..

i know demtriou has this thing where he wants all clubs to win a flag each in 18 years or whatever, but just because the cats have won a couple they still need to be compensated fairly for a player who is at his peak and in the best 3 players in the AFL..

Geelong should sack him. This is hardly surprising given the way his coach has been bad-mouthing him all season.

The guy is the best player in the competition. He is going to be 27 so could play midfield for 4-5 seasons and then a forward pocket for another 3. He strikes me as the type of player that could easily play till 35. A top 5 pick should be a dead set certainty for him and another one at the end of the 1st round.

Interesting. I was just watching Fox Sports News before and they reckon Ablett and Pickering had an hour-long meeting at the Geelong headquarters.

Somebody's talking out of their ass here.

Why would he turn up thats what his manager gets paid to do.

because its his decision, not the managers. if all they had to do was please the manager with the most money then the decision would have been made a long time ago, there is a lot more in it. plus, he saw fit to meet with GC didnt he.

A bit of BS in there.

Thompson is no longer married, it was his girlfriend (partner). Also, she did not throw a drink she had a verbal talk (argument) with him regarding his handling of the issue.

Back on the issue, Liam, the Gold Coast and the AFL are doing a great job to make sure the announcement is made after the Grand Final to maximise there exposure. If I was Brian Cook I would say Gary our offer is off the table as of tomorrow at 5.00pm (Friday). Then if he doesn't sign by this date let the media know. Why do we have dragged through this BS, we have other contracts we need renegotiate and other players we may want to get from other clubs if he leaves. The longer we have to wait the harder it becomes.
