Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

Fremantle alone have two better young mids. I’m perfectly fine with 6 and trimmings but it shouldn’t be two firsts.

Neale won your BnF in the year he left and was contracted. I rate Cerra but I don’t see him winning a Brownlow in his future. To me he projects to as a Dylan Shiel type. Will win an AA or two, be very important at his club and be in the best 15-30 mids in the game at his best. I hope he doesn’t see the same injuries Shiel did. I might have completely missed the mark here but that’s how I view his potential.
Cerra is a way better player than Neale was at the end of his fourth year and that's the point. You are dreaming if you think two first won't be involved. No he is nothing even remotely like Dylan Shiel. In fact pretty much the opposite. His kicking out of congestion is elite and in the top 3 or so in terms of young mids in the comp.

Why do Carlton supporters think Pick 6 and 24 is overs? You are getting a 21 year old gun for the next 10-12 years!!
I’m rapt with pick 6 and 24 for him! If that suits Fremantle that’s a great deal for Carlton. Freo can win from that too potentially. Could be a win win

I was comparing their values at the time they left (or will leave) Fremantle and not at the same age. I don’t see Cerra ending up at Neale’s level. Neale was contracted and miles better but you got less than what you want for Cerra. Proof that you need to judge each trade individually on its own merits.

He doesn’t play like Shiel but I think he’ll end up rated where Shiel was at his best. Just off the best 10 or so mids in the game in that next group. Shiel was a gun pre-injuries.

I won’t rule it out but two firsts is extremely unlikely unless we get something else back or they’re both late.

Teague wasn’t a massive fan of SPS - for whatever reason.

Fisher has had a handful on injuries throughout the last two years.

Neither have ‘negative trade value’.

And neither will be delisted if they aren’t traded.

Will be interesting to see how they develop under a new coach and game style next year.

However unless Fremantle (and not the bigfooty supporters) rate either of them more than their output has been in ‘20-21 I doubt they’ll be included in this trade.
SPS is not getting a game when you have like 15 people out with injury. He’s currently valued What would Acres be worth in a trade right now?

Regardless of the salary cap wizards at Carlton, cap will be tight. I’m willing to bet you at least don’t want him on the main list next year

I’d be happy to trade our 2022 Ist rounder ( top 10pick) & SPS or Fisher for Adam Cerra, if he’s willing to come to us, he just nominates CFC early & doesn’t sign any further contract with Freo , it’s done, a little laborious but arbitrators would ours a fair offer.

We’ve just had 3 retirement on reasonable coin, Murphy, Eddie & Casboult with delistings to come. No problems re cap space.

The issue seriously here is that we over value draft picks hay 😅. Im guilty of this 10 fold!!!

regardless of what we actually get. I just wanna say that all us freo supporters will say that it us unders! Dudes a freaking gun and im genuinely gutted to lose him

Those are entirely planned retirings and factored in when doing new contracts, bringing in new players. If your capspace isn’t at least tight after the players you’ve brought in, re-signed over the last two years on top of Cerra, then your list guys need to go to Hogwarts.

I’m sure you could fit SPS in if you really want to, but your selection policies indicate you probably aren’t too fussed

Pretty sure most in here agree with you they are just arguing two sides of the same coin

The trade proposed by Kreuuuzeurns is the best one. Assuming SPS is close to negative value

6, 25, SPS for Cerra and a 3rd

Fremantle would be better off with 6, 25 for Cerra and a 3rd.

Interesting discussion. I will say Cerra is a a fantastic prospect. People do overrate picks, for sure. What are the chances that the pick Fremantle get for him will be used to draft a player as good as Cerra? I'd give it 30-40%, honestly. Even if it is a top 6 pick.

Is it possible that if a deal can't be brokered that Carlton take Cerra through the PSD like they did with Saad?

If I hear one more mention of SPS in this thread then I will lose my sh*t. As mentioned many times, his value would be close to negative.

I’ve heard several neutrals say 2 first round picks is a fair deal, and if Carlton want Cerra, they will need to cough up a fair price.

Bell is no pushover at the trade table. I can assure you that if Carlton don’t come to the party and a deal can’t be reached then we will let Cerra walk to North in the PSD.

And boy oh boy the LOL’s at Carlton will be endless. You miss out on Cerra, you draft another spud with your pick 6 and you still end up with SPS.

As I said earlier, Adam is leaving ~$1M on the table to go home. He'll be on around $600K a year at Carlton and will sign for 4 years. Freo upped their offer to $850K.

Carlton will also split its first pick to get Richmond's 2x first rounders and Freo will have to take whichever one is given to them (looks like 12) and Fisher.

Why would Richmond give up their other first rounder to move up two spots?

Yes, Bell will certainly teach Carlton a lesson by walking him for free to North…..

I’m sure I speak for most Freo people when I say I’d rather that happen than to be bent over by Carlton at the trade table.

Adam seems to be of a fairly high character so I can’t see him doing that to Freo in any case. If a deal can’t be reached then it wouldn’t surprise me if he stays.

Carltons 1st (6) + 2nd (24) + SPS/3rd for Cerra + Freo 2nd (30) should get it done imo
This is pretty close.
6 and 24 (before academy and f/s picks) would be a fair return for both sides.

If the Dockers nail their picks they receive very good compo. The Blues in return receive a midfielder that is probably second only to Walsh in their current line up. They would want Cerra to continue his development (and that is the trade price they are paying), and there is no reason to suggest he wouldn’t continue to.

Leaving Fremantle and a 10yr quartet with Darcy, Brayshaw and Serong is the mistake here.

Agree, from a football perspective. Genuinely.

However I strongly believe that family comes first and the pull of home, especially with all the border closures, would be a priority.

I know it's easy for some people (not you) so say that these kids should stay at their club and not go home but the current generation (and I see this with my staff) really do value their work life balance and if that means working in your home state instead of 2000km away then why wouldn't you?
