Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

Blues looking for a Eagles first rounder for SPS, which they'll pass on to Freo for Cerra

You can't seriously believe that do you?

The Eagles also can't trade their first this year any way.

About right, else he goes into PS draft or stays. Time for this club to stand and deliver.

OK, so another one.

Well I'm just thinking of all that time I'll have on my hands now that I won't be visiting this thread until after the Cerra deal is done.

Dead set crazy talk in recent days and that's saying something.

Are there any rumours of any other clubs down the pecking order for cerra ? I personally don’t think Carlton will get him as it would’ve been announced already, he’s holding out for Melbourne if they can get it done.

Nah still Carlton bound according to most media reports.

Not many clubs want to pay him what he is asking for.

I still don't get why Richmond aren't into Cerra, they have the draft capital and is the perfect cotchin replacement. You'd imagine astbury and bachar were on good coin, so should free up some space and still have a good draft haul. It really seems odd not a lot of clubs are after him, not that interested which isn't making sense. I have a feeling that Fremantle are asking for a kings ransom and has put off a couple of clubs, maybe its something booky like two first rounders.

Perhaps Richmond were the team all along. Right from the outset.

All this Carlton stuff is just a troll. Young Adam seems like a bloke who would make a great poker player.

Trying to keep relevant for the next few years while dusty and others are still in the team.
Bring in a decent 20 odd player to keep you in the finals race while building on the team talent with your other picks.
Doesn't seem half bad if you can get him for your first; especially if he builds with some of your other mids like bolton etc in the same age bracket.

Cap space is my guess.

I really would like him because of what I have heard, but I don’t know much about him admittedly other than the spanking he gave us earlier in the year.

Our midfield is currently deficient at getting clearances and contested possessions. Those are probably our two weakest areas. Other deficiencies are our kicking inside 50 and pace.

For those that have watched him, how much of the above would he fix? I know he isn’t the quickest midfielder around from what I have heard, but can he at least address most of our midfield deficiencies?

Well he'll definitely help your kicking inside 50. One of the best kicks i50 in the game and is why his loss is so big for us

We've been super keen on bringing him back to Vic since the moment he was drafted, yet for some reason as soon as he was available we pulled out.

At a guess, Carlton must just be willing/able to pay more than we can.

Not sure the Tigers has pulled out.

Cerra is a Richmond fan.

The yellow and back has draft assets.

The only issue is cap space. Considering that Houli and Astbury retired, the gap between the Blues deal and Tigers might be $100k per year.

On paper it makes perfect sense for him to come to us. We just might not be willing to offer that extra $100k or whatever it may be.

We're also looking at getting our hands on Gold Coast's pick three, so maybe we feel that's a better use of our draft assets?

I think the hold up with Cerra nominating a club is probably because Carlton weren't his first or even second choice. They just happen to be the club that is in best position to pay him what he wants and get a deal done with Freo. Us and Melbourne can probably only do one of those things.

Would be good to help out the kid if nobody else can. His mum barracks for North, so he is a natural fit.
And this is the reason that Carlton need to get a deal done. 👍🏻
