Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

Has Fremantle got any academy or F/S picks coming through this year? Can't see why they'd prefer a deal for points when they can have two firsts over two years. Maybe a second or a third goes back the other way.
Well Bombers are also into Cerra and look like making finals
what would be the trade there

Freo do have academy kids i believe

I think Brandon Ellis has played great at the Suns, Higgins has not done anything special at the Saints.
I don't think Ellis' stint at the Suns has improved them significantly, and he's probably not the best example because he did carry some value at the time of his move unlike some of the names thrown up here (Caddy, McIntosh).

Point is why would any rebuilding club, like Fremantle, want to trade a young star like Cerra for a middling pick and the sort of player you could realistically pick up as a DFA? Your priority in a rebuild is bringing in young talent, not stockpiling role players. Very rare to get young talent back in a trade so the only other way to obtain it is via the draft.

Hence, the deal for Cerra will involve two good draft picks or one really great one.

Our 1st, and we're not making finals lmao

Coffield , Hunter , King also have not been able to move stkilda and needless to mention all the draft picks the GC have used

But nice to mention Higgins
he was traded from Richmond for a 2nd rounder even though he was a required player under contract because he wanted to go to the club he supported
We traded away a promising 1st rounder that averaged 17 touches and goal a game in his 1st year playing 20 games.
For a 2nd round pick

So players wanting to go always lose value no matter what supporters say
Cerra "losing value" in a trade would be getting traded for a top 10 pick instead of the top 5 pick he was drafted with. Crazy to think he'd go for anything less.

Fremantle imo need to continue to hit the draft they are going no where anytime soon & getting a first round pick + decent young player ala CCJ might be a win-win trade.

Ours are fringe premiership players
your spuds are just spuds that wont improve your team

Fyfe , Mundy , Walters are guns and you have a few nice players like Cerra , Serong , Brayshaw , Ryan etc but the cupboard is bare and your depth players are wafl quality. But you call multiple premiership plyers spuds FMD.

enjoy your success

What's the point of trying to flex about the team you support?

The point of trading is to improve a teams list and future prospects. The amount of team medals you chuck around the neck of a player isn't going to make him better or worse, and the notion we should have some special reverence for Richmond's fringe players since they were hanging on when Richmond got a flag is absurd.

Also, to go off the guys you listed as mediocre Tiger players who are best 22 at other clubs:

Brandon Ellis
Reece Conca
Jack Higgins
Dan Butler
Oleg Markov

Gold Coast still nowhere near finals despite having two of these players. Saints have gone to shit this season. Freo would be lucky to play in September.

Why should the fact that these players are best 22 at ordinary teams increase their value?

Literally the only thing you have said here that makes sense. You speak like you are the Richmond list manager, in truth you are just an anonymous hack on here like the rest of us.
So ask yourself the question

Why are you here wasting your time with all the other anonymous hacks like yourself ?

Prestia had played only 22 of the last 44 games for the Gold Coast before he left. He was injury prone and hadn't been in the best form in 2016. Pick 6 was heavily overpaying, everyone knew it at the time, you're just trying to re-write history.
It wasn't Pick 6 in isolation though
It was Pick 6 (2016) & Pick 37 (2017) for Dion Prestia & Pick 24 (2016)
Using the draft point calculator, that leaves the points difference around the value of a Pick 10

if we are into Cerra and he wants to come the deal will get done, and wouldn’t surprise me if its been done already on principle.

And as always it will be a win win win for all party’s, bevause we don’t stuff around, and it will be a fair trade.

We have 2 first rounders, 2second rounders and 2 third round picks to play with.

Yes they probably can and they did
Brandon Ellis
Reece Conca
Jack Higgins
Dan Butler
Oleg Markov

They were all mediocre but are best 22 at other clubs now
Yep mediocre at Richmond and mediocre elsewhere, hence my complete lack of interest in any more of them.

Also, Conca is in the WAFL.

We’ve won flags with rookie picks and so called mediocre players... not our fault players development stop when they leave .

It was overpaying relative to what he was worth at the time, but it worked out. Not rocket science dude.

Again, don't even try to pretend Richmond fans were happy about giving up pick 6.
Facts are not pretending champ, do your research, its getting comical now, Dude :)

Every team does, that's my point. There is nothing special about your role players.

then demand picks then ...

I’d say he is worth a pick 5 worth of points....a 21 year old ready made midfielder Will slot nicely into our long term plans.

So sit back and let deal happen.

I'd actually argue that all 5 of those guys possibly with the exception of Higgins have played their best footy since leaving Richmond.

In reference to winning flags with mediocre players, all teams do and Richmond have probably done it with more then most teams. The difference between Richmond of the past 5ish years and most other teams in AFL history is how well these so called mediocre players fit your structures, are amazingly well drilled and genuinely stick to the basic principles of what their role is on that given day.
