  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

I'd actually argue that all 5 of those guys possibly with the exception of Higgins have played their best footy since leaving Richmond.

In reference to winning flags with mediocre players, all teams do and Richmond have probably done it with more then most teams. The difference between Richmond of the past 5ish years and most other teams in AFL history is how well these so called mediocre players fit your structures, are amazingly well drilled and genuinely stick to the basic principles of what their role is on that given day.

They’ve played better because they’ve been given more opportunity..... and we can’t keep them all.
What’s great also, is that pretty much every player we have cut off our list in the last 4-5 years have found homes... the exception was last year due to covid.
Players leave on good terms and we look after them so they get to where they want to go.

I don't think Ellis' stint at the Suns has improved them significantly, and he's probably not the best example because he did carry some value at the time of his move unlike some of the names thrown up here (Caddy, McIntosh).

Point is why would any rebuilding club, like Fremantle, want to trade a young star like Cerra for a middling pick and the sort of player you could realistically pick up as a DFA? Your priority in a rebuild is bringing in young talent, not stockpiling role players. Very rare to get young talent back in a trade so the only other way to obtain it is via the draft.

Hence, the deal for Cerra will involve two good draft picks or one really great one.

Our 1st, and we're not making finals lmao

Cerra "losing value" in a trade would be getting traded for a top 10 pick instead of the top 5 pick he was drafted with. Crazy to think he'd go for anything less.
Even prime Ablett Jr couldn't get the Suns to finals... So i don't think you can hold Ellis stint at the Suns against him for not improving them I think their issues are a little more complicated than just list.

I think most fans can pick out which Tigers players are mediocre.

Some supporters overrate their players, ....... oh except the players from the reigning premier, they are never overrated ....

All teams have spuds, some are Idaho, some are Sumich. When you think all your players are premium carrots, me thinks you’ve been drinking your own bath water.

Yeah we have another 2 mediocre spuds with 3-4 clubs after them that wouldnt get games at fremantle
Coleman-Jones & Chol

Richmond must be a spud factory ;)

The point is that you make out that are the authority on who is good / bad in the AFL. All Richmond players are not better than other teams players, simply because they’ve played in a premiership team. All teams have good foot soldiers.

You have listed some of Richmond’s players who are on the edge of the best 22, or developing in the VFL. That’s great, but then say that I wouldn’t know much about them as I’m not a supporter of Richmond. Yes, they could be good up and coming players, and as such I’m happy you’ve fill us in on the future prospects.

But, what do you know of the development of players at other teams ?. Maybe their supporters have a better idea ?, as you don’t closely follow those teams.

As for Cerra, from speaking to my workmates ( Eagles, North’s, Tiger’s & Hawks ), his value is still around his draft pick.

Hence why any rebuilding club would be silly to accept Richmond offcuts instead of draft capital, any why Adam Cerra won't be as simple as pick in the teen + a fringe player.

We’ve won flags with rookie picks and so called mediocre players... not our fault players development stop when they leave .

Which trajectory was Conca on when he left? Was obvious early on he had no real features as a footballer and would peak as a B-grade mid at best.

No surprises he’s now a fringe player. Freo have a good midfield, and he’s pretty ineffectual.

He's been a lockdown defender the last two years. He's usually quite good at it. Kept Dusty to 8 possessions or something like that last year.

He's obviously not doing something we want him to, which is weird because you never get the feeling he isn't giving 100%.

The most irritating poster on Bigfooty.
Use the ignore button I did a few days ago it’s much better!
