I made some comments last week regarding Goodes not being able or willing to kick goals from 40-50m out.

Hopefully tonight's great goals gives him the confidence he needs to do it for the rest of the year.
He's still got the Goodes!!

Unfortunately every time Goodes performs, there's more racist shit posted on the main board.. But nnnoooooo, the booing isn't racist..

I was very surprised at how easily that kick from 50 went through. Its clearly a confidence rather than age thing. I admit i thought he didn't have it in him. Running away from Oly Wines whilst bouncing was also beyond what I though his capabilities had become.

Basically if you don't agree with EVERYTHING that is said by what Bedford calls the "do-gooders", by which he simply means the progressive and militant left - the seemers and the SJW's of talk and no real action, of which the msm are basically scribes, then you are a bigot.

Makes no sense but there it is. Try going a teensy bit off the reservation with a view not 100% in line with them and see what happens. Your own responses show this perfectly.

People boo Goodes in the majority because others are doing it and people talk incessantly about it. And because they are told to stop it by people in power positions. I am sure there are some "KKK" types loving the cover but they will be a minority. Ask most of the boo'ers and they will tell you that they are just as tolerant and multi-cultural (whatever that means) as you. And who are you to question them about their private mind? How can you make judgements like that?

Does everyone have to conform 100% to what you think constitutes tolerance to be tolerant?

I dont have time to respond to this fully - but I for one fully respect people's right to be bigot's so long as it doesn't interfere with others enjoyment of life. So boo in your loungueroom if that makes you feel cool.

John Stuart Mill had liberalism right - do whatever you want so long as you dont interfere with someone else enjoyment of life. We know (or ought know) enough by now that words can be hurtful and particular forms of words (you black ******, you flaming ****ter) are designed to be both derogatory and demeaning. People have choices here - they can be bigots and be called out for that or they can not be bigots.

Have your free thought. Have your free speech. But if you can't make your argument without using language or actions designed to belittle and demean well stuff your right to free speech. Go and exercise it somewhere else. But not in my football ground.

You have no greater idea as to what is motivating the booers than anyone else - your suggestion that it is sheep like behaviour is just guesswork, not based on evidence or anything other than your gut feel. and tbh even if a survey was done that might give a PC response rather than the true preferences of the crowd.

For my part I don't have too many doubts that if one Gary Ablett came out tomorrow and said I'm gay and I'm sick of all the people in the crowd yelling you pillow biter he wouldnt be getting booed. but I'm sure someone out there might and I'm pretty sure if asked why they would say it was because he chicken winged some fella and that he was a great player and we boo all those types.

Goodes is booed as people don't like the way he goes about things on the field and him complaining about getting booed has only fuelled this further.

He will continue to get booed until the end of his career especially with fans now knowing it bothers him, his teammates and his club so much.

I've been following this game since the early 80's and players get booed all the time, not once has this been because the colour of their skin, Carey used to get booed every time he played because he was a champion but also came across as arrogant, buckley also was booed throughout his career. As a richmond fan richo used to get booed all the time, the swans have made this issue worse by being so caught up with it instead of just shrugging it off and getting on with it.
