Lot of ifs and buts there.

“If he was a free agent”...

Hes not, so why bother bringing it up?

And on that, given you bought it up, if he was a free agent and Carlton was offering him around $600-700k a year... then they’d probably just chuck in another $50-100k to help ensure they get him for nothing (no draft pick cost through being forced into a trade) anyway..

And..

youre not a fan of people presenting arguements that dont suit your agenda are you.. this is the main board and I’ve got as much right to post my opinions here as anyone else.. so pull your head in..

If Dodo won’t even give Saad the 600k over 5 years he was after then he shouldn’t be demanding pick 7. Let alone Walsh, Charlie, McKay or De Koning.

He wants out, is out of contract, and they shit on him in the media as soon as he indicated he wanted the Blues. Pick 7 could be apart of it but something reasonably heavy will be coming back on top of Saad.

Wowee it’s mental health and psd again

here we go! :D
Asking for one of Curnow, McKay or Walsh, or pick 7 and TDK is at the very extreme end of ridiculous and not even a remote chance of happening.
The talk of PSD is the counter to that ridiculousness. While there are some Carlton supporters who would love to see it go that way, despite the talk in here, most would prefer to get a fair deal done and leave the PSD out of it. The club, no doubt, would feel the same.

The difference between the Essendon end of ridiculousness and the Carlton end, is that ours is a realistic chance of happening, which gives us the leverage.

Jesus Christ, trade week doesn't even start for 3 weeks or so, and everyone is getting up in arms.
Carlton fans especially, 3 weeks out from trade week and they are all over a report about an preliminary trade request that was obviously leaked by Carlton for the purpose of what? Trying to look more "mature" or "professional" than Essendon.
Stuff them, marching Saad to the PSD.
What has been Carltons first offer? Why hasn't that been reported?
I even question the validity of the report.
Why would Essendon want TDK, Draper has shown as much as TDK. Doubt Essendon want 2 young developing ruckmen that can't really impact up forward.

So long to go before this is done, but lets not get your panties in a bunch just yet.

Its not just that, heyre happy staying and haven't asked for a trade. Has Essendon approached them or their managers? Doubtful.

So is Carlton expected to go to these highly valued players and convince them to leave or does simply being spoken about by Essendon enough to make them swoon?

How much have Carlton put on the table for Saad?... does anyone know the exact figure?.. is it in the realm of $600-700k a season?.

If its around that then its a bit hard for Carlton to argue against paying up..

Those Carlton fans suggesting pick 7 should be split so they can get a pick in the teens to give up for Saad need to remember a pick in the teens in this years draft will probably end up being very late teens after compo/nga’s etc..

Pick 7 could drift out to 9-10..

Carlton have chased Saads services here.. now they are committed they need to pay up. Pick 7 sounds about right really..
Flawed logic...sorry even a little simple.

As you will find out soon, just because you spend years managing your cap to put yourself in this situation doesn’t mean you pay a premium.

Otherwise the bottom teams with cap space would always pay more than the higher teams that don’t have it...basically anchors bottom teams and advantages top teams.

You havent presented an argument, you presented rhetoric surrounding his contract and how that translates to appropriate value. The AFL has a system in place for such discussions which I used to rubbish your appraisal.
My arguement is that if the blues are offering saad somewhere in the vicinity of $600-700k a year then its difficult for them to then say hes not worth a valuable draft pick..

Your argument is to dribble on about “if he was a free agent blah, blah, blah” and “if he was contracted blah, blah, blah”.. all irrelevant rubbish because he’s neither of those.

He’s a player that essendon put a decent contract in front of.. carlton has quite obviously have chucked something just as good, if not better, in front of him to lure him out of the Bombers.. in doing so they now need to back it up and deal with the dodo..

Dodo was always going to ask for players plus pick 7 etc etc.. thats the way he works. If Carlton are dumb enough to get themselves into a situation where they have to deal with dodo then thats on them. Thats the reality of it regardless of how much hyperventilating you do.

Now I dont think saad is worth pick 7 and De koning or walsh or any other player..

But if Carlton want to chuck $600-700k at saad then my opinion is that they should atleast hand over pick 7.. and if he was a Carlton player going to the dons on that type of salary you would be arguing for pick 7 guaranfknteed... in fact you, brutalpop, would probably be demanding more. Your hypocrisy knows no bounds on here.

It has been reported Carlton are willing to deal 7 but want something back.

It’s also been reported we’ve had discussions with Geelong to split our first pick.

It seems Carlton are very willing to do a fair deal. Saad camp has threatened PSD to get it done. All we’ve heard from Essendon is “compelling compensation” and then this article.

If Carlton are serious about getting Saad, then PSD isn't an option.

If North won't pick him up, then Essendon will. If Essendon select Saad, then Saad would have no choice but to play for Essendon for a year.

Carlton will have to either give up pick 7 or trade pick 7 for two firsts with one going to Essendon for Saad.

A deal will be done because Carlton won't lose a player that nominated them and Essendon wont risk getting nothing for him.

Make a play for the Bulldogs pick 13. If the Bombers don't take that for Saad and choose to lose him for nothing it would be pure negligence.
The bulldogs wont want to do a pick swap to move up the draft.. only to lose it matching a bid on JUH..

It would have to be the other way of it happens.. so two 2nd rounders for pick 13.. can Carlton make this happen?

There is 0 chance you take Saad at the draft whether it be PSD or ND. Absolutely 0. Picking him up on what would be an inflated contract when he doesn’t want to be there would be a great way to piss off your players even more.

Far more worried about North Melbourne. Don’t think Adelaide, Freo or GC have a go. The Hawks are an interesting one and it wouldn’t surprise me.

But I’m confident it won’t get to that stage.

Next year’s first for pick 13?

The Doggies need points in this year's draft for JUH. One option is trading some of next years later picks for a second rounder this year and pair that up with pick 27 and a third rounder and give the Doggies more points than pick 13.

The bulldogs wont want to do a pick swap to move up the draft.. only to lose it matching a bid on JUH..

See above. They don't need to move up in the draft, they just need more points. Think of how you guys got pick 13 for McHenry by the Swans trading down for multiple picks in order to have more points overall for Blakey.

That would do wonders for their culture reset having a player who has been bagged in the media and then being forced to stay at the club. More likely to go in the main draft.

There are plenty of teams that will be looking for points and prepared to trade picks

Given how much he cooked the Daniher stuff last year, I agree you would think he would learn.

I get wanting to get fair value for your player, but honestly an end of first round is about right. That should be an early 20's.

What an absolute laughing stock this club is on and off the field.
Good work Adrian, piss them of as much as you can and then we will all laugh as they cave and give us pick seven,

Where's that been reported? Bigfooty?

What is Carlton actually offering? Funny the Carlton propaganda piece doesn't mention that.

We should just give them Walsh, C Curnow, TDK, McKay, Cripps.

And then we should also just throw in pick #7 and Weitering as steak knives.

Anything else we can do for Dodo?
If you can get Watsons cheating Brownlow back, I think you may get that deal done.

You would have to wine and dine Dodoro though.
