People sh*t on Essendon for supposedly playing out trades in the media, yet Carlton are obviously the ones feeding all this out.
Reckon we leaked it. Whether intentionally or not. I wouldn't blame one of the carlton list guys having a laugh over a beer and saying too loudly to too many people what that muppet at Essendon was trying

Pick 7 or 8 might be about right if Saad was happy at Tulla, but the fact he wants out devalues him a bit IMO.

Pick between 13-18 about right. If the Bombers get any better that that it will because the Blues pity them and can’t bear to watch the embarrassing farce that it is the Bombers’ trade dealings a moment longer. Yes, pitied. By Carlton.

Pick 7 and a something throw in as junk from Essendon wold get it done.

So why are Carlton offering 5 years on big money? Cos he is a hack?
I know it suits your narrative to say his stats have barely improved, but anyone who has actually watched a bit of Saad over the past 3 years has to admit he has improved alot in that time.
What would you be asking for if Sam Docherty was leaving? Pick 27?
Carlton fans are hilarious. All I hear is "I hope Dodoro doesn't waste our time asking for 2 1st Rounders and Walsh", but then expect pick 27 to get the trade done otherwise off we go to the PSD.

Pretty sure it was reported that Saad said he would be happy to go into the PSD and go to any Melbourne based team as long as it wasn't Essendon, so ignore North at your peril.

Anyway, it's an opinion game here on BF, Essendon fans want pick 7, Carlton fans only want to give up pick 27 (which will most likely blow out to a pick in the 30's), and I'm a neutral saying a pick in the mid to late teens is about right.

It will be interesting to watch it play out.
Who has called him a hack? Nobody. He's a very good player. He's just not an early to mid 1st rounder.
Doc has nothing to do with it, but he's an AA half back and club captain and B&F winner, whose best season blows Saad's out of the water (although they're slightly different players).
He's a running defender that breaks lines. He's gone from averaging over 4 bounces per game to less than 1! While his disposals haven't changed much.
Most Blues supporters are saying a pick between 14-18. Any mention of 27 is usually in response to drivel from the Essendon side.
Where's this report about being happy to go to any Melbourne club? I've only heard that he wants Blues and won't meet with other clubs. I'm not ignoring North. They'd be crazy to drop 5 years at $650k on a player who doesn't want to be there, but good luck to them if they do. I'd love to have Saad at the club, but if he doesn't get there, we've lost nothing. If he goes to North (or any other club) in the PSD, it's Essendon who lose out, and maybe Saad if he doesn't want to be wherever he ends up.
On potential, I'd rate Saad about pick 15 (although he seems to have peaked). On current output and historical trades for similar players, I'd rate him anywhere from 16-25 (a 2nd plus a 3rd).
Having said that, I'd happily give something up around 13 if it got the deal done and we could work out how to get that pick (and I don't mean giving Essendon pick 7 and getting something back that rates him about 13 on points).

If Saad went to the PSD... I could absolutely see Essendon redrafting him out of spite

People were saying the same thing about Martin. I have no doubt that Essendon would want to, but there's just no way the AFL or player's association would allow it.

The AFL should push that all parties should " negotiate in good faith "
This is to apply to all clubs and trades.

We should ask the AFL for an independent observer during negotiations for this trade. So if we have to go to arbitration. There will be a record as to whom has been reasonable.

I had a look at the Chris Yarren trade which was pick 19 that went out too 23.
So I think a pick between 14-17 would be fair ò

Ess offered same deal as blues tho....
You front loaded martin so no one could
From a player's association point of view, with mental health being such a big thing, there's no way they will stand back while a player who wanted out of a certain club, was then drafted back into that club, after they'd bagged him on the way out the door.
From an AFL perspective, there's no way they want another mental health retiree, or for a club or the league to be sued for a restraint of trade.
If it ends up being a PSD scenario (as good as it would be for the lols, I hope it doesn't), I'm pretty confident that Essendon are out of the race.
With list sizes and salary caps reportedly about to be cut, who would risk 5 years at $650k on a player who might not play a game?

HAHAHAH this is some of the greatest bullshit I have read in this tip.

The AFL and AFLPA won't do shit about it. In fact the AFL would more likely scrutinise how Carlton have somehow pulled a swifty two years in a row and got highly rated players for free don't you think?

Perhaps the trend is that Carlton woo players offering them big money and long contracts and then don't want to pay the price to recruit them.

Different ways to polish a turd aren't there champ.

Stuff them. Let him nominate for the draft, use pick 7 on him and be done with it. We get our man. Essendon miss out on everything and their reputation is even further destroyed. Zero chance anyone uses a pick prior to that on him.

Just proves how ridiculous the requests are. Dodo has no power here, none.

Yeah the AFL are going to scrutinise why Carlton did not agree to a ridiculously Essendon biased deal, because Essendon said so. Get you head of of the 90s fool. Go read a little from Rohan Connelly about your club and this mindset.

Personally after the crap from Essondon in the last 24 hrs I am happy to see him walk to the PSD as I beleive there is ZERO chance another takes him.

If someone does pick him before is good luck to them ~650k for 5 yes on a player that stated they don't want to be there. Culture.

Either way Essendon get nothing and destroy their ability to get any trades done for years to come.

You got everyone that supports you in the media to bang on about pick 7 from day 1, trash talked Saad in the media and then made these insulting offers.

Don't come crying to us when we start playing the game dodo started.
