Essendon starting off with making sup ridiculous trade requests from Carlton.

Looks to be like it might end up being a straight swap for Carltons current first round pick?

My arguement is that if the blues are offering saad somewhere in the vicinity of $600-700k a year then its difficult for them to then say hes not worth a valuable draft pick..

Your argument is to dribble on about “if he was a free agent blah, blah, blah” and “if he was contracted blah, blah, blah”.. all irrelevant rubbish because he’s neither of those.

He’s a player that essendon put a decent contract in front of.. carlton has quite obviously have chucked something just as good, if not better, in front of him to lure him out of the Bombers.. in doing so they now need to back it up and deal with the dodo..

Dodo was always going to ask for players plus pick 7 etc etc.. thats the way he works. If Carlton are dumb enough to get themselves into a situation where they have to deal with dodo then thats on them. Thats the reality of it regardless of how much hyperventilating you do.

Now I dont think saad is worth pick 7 and De koning or walsh or any other player..

But if Carlton want to chuck $600-700k at saad then my opinion is that they should atleast hand over pick 7.. and if he was a Carlton player going to the dons on that type of salary you would be arguing for pick 7 guaranfknteed... in fact you, brutalpop, would probably be demanding more. Your hypocrisy knows no bounds on here.
So who at crows would you swap for Pick 7?
That other clubs would want.

Yeah I actually wouldn't put that past Dodoro if he reached Essendon's pick, but I highly doubt he'd pass North or Hawthorn. Saad seems to be prepared to play for a club other than Carlton if it has to get to that.

Like always, a deal will get done and all of this BS amounts to nothing.
Hawks wont pick him up, wrong position for us to invest so much money.

I think Carlton will just try do the dirty, try for a faux deal and then put a massive price on his head to get him for nothing.

There's a track record there.
Faux deal, our deal for Martin was more than value, Cochrane wanted to make a stand. This is a media beat up.

This trade is the equivalent to:

Someone (Essendon) being forced to sell a car (Saad) to a buyer (Carlton) before it gets repossessed.
That person can either accept the best offer and get something for the car, or let it get repossessed and lose everything while the buyer just goes to auction and buys the repossessed car for a literal bargain.

It’s as simple as that folks, get whatever is offered before you lose it all and get nothing.

Looks like it wont.

He'll go to the draft and Essendon will get nothing before they get #7 straight swap.

Not sure, the article seems to suggest Carlton believe the pick to be fair value.

Now whilst I understand its an article and it could be BS, id take it the person who wrote it knows more about the situation than you.

Sure. Not sure if the Blues were really trying their hardest. Hawks got a deal done for O'meara for example.

GC themselves said they weren’t interested in doing whatever needs to be done to work out a deal, they said themselves they wanted to take a future stand to send a message to the rest of the competition, so how can anyone blame us is beyond me

I haven't used this one in years but it's worth bringing it out of retirement... Cool story bro.

"The Suns wouldn't budge on their asking price of a first-round pick to be involved in any potential Martin trade, with the Blues refusing a late request for their pick No.9 to be involved in the deal while receiving Martin and pick No.15 in return."

As far as points value goes that rated Martin as pick 45 and your mob still wouldn't do it. Like I said. There's a history here.

WB
Out - 13
In - 27, 41, 45 (+250 points)

Essendon
Out - Saad, 41 (won't even use it with daniher compo + 6 + 13)
In - 13

Carlton
Out - 27, 45
In - Saad

Tell me who misses out here? Maybe dogs want a few more points for their buck
The Dogs would be short-changed in that deal. I know they want points for Ugle-Hagan, though.

You do realise that our pick 9 was tied up to the last minute waiting on Dodoro to make a decision on the Daniher trade.

We had already worked out an agreement in principle with Sydney to give us Papley for pick 9 which Sydney would then ontrade to Dodo for the Daniher trade, but Dodo being the prick he is wasted everyone’s time up to the last day.

How could we refuse requests form GC for pick 9 being involved when it was already tied up elsewhere.

Dodo would be smart to learn from last year, don’t ask for overs and force us to split pick 7 and he misses out.

So you just made stuff up about Gold Coast not wanting to genuinely trade?

Ok cool.

Any thread that has Dodo involved in a trade turns to sh*t, wonder why
Opposition supporters have a hard-on for him. Even though his deals usually get done.

Now back onto Saad rather than Essendon's list manager which has the same tired argument every trade season.

No I said GC weren’t interested in ‘doing whatever was needed to make a trade happen’, because they wanted to make a stand.

Making requests that they know we can’t work on because the pick they requested isn’t available anymore as it’s already tied up is not negotiating in good faith, and that’s fine because they wanted decided making a stand was more important than losing Martin for nothing.
