With everything that has gone on this year in regards to injuries and covid I think simpson will keep his spot unless offered something significant elsewhere.

Either way I would pick up Pyke as Coach for the rebuild. A bit like Voss he made one terrible mistake but I think he could be very good in the role or as manager of the football department. Has the hardness I think you need in a rebuild and will likely have the backing to make hard decisions.

Schofield almost guaranteed another year in his role however Knights might not be. He really was only ever a very attacking coach at Essendon and didn't seem to have a plan B at any stage.

Knight’s like many others may of learnt a great deal since his first time as head coach, he may now have all the tools after many years experience. One of the problems in footy is we throw people to the footy trash based on only one experience.
Firstly no great coach can succeed without the cattle, and secondly coaching is a constant learning gig, it evolves yearly.
Any person who has coached outright himself and then been an assistant for quite sometime is someone I would definitely be talking to if I was looking for a coach.

Doubt he agreed to leave Geelong and move across the country for a one-year deal.

Assistant coaches aren't paid huge amounts thus easily sackable.

You don’t think it’d be a little harsh to tear up a midfield coach’s contract after one season in which his star midfielders Yeo, Kelly, Shuey, Sheed and Gaff have so far played a total of 17 of a possible 50 games?

After he’s quit his job and moved across the country?

If a new coach comes in they bring their own team in. Schofield and Knights know that. If Simmo stays (I think it's untenable) then I'd be disappointed if either of these guys were let go. If a new coach comes in then he must be allowed to build his own team.

It’s usually a combination of bringing his own guys and inheriting some existing ones. Simpson inherited a few including Longmuir and Hickmott.

Sure, but it's the new coach's call. The club nor anyone can make him stick with either of those two guys.

Every year, more and more, Twomey seems to get the draft order accurate. I'm not really understanding why clubs want to show their hands? Is it sort of like clubs want to know what everyone before them is doing so it's sort of ok as long as everyone else is declaring? Or does he get some sort of honey pot call them up and sweet talk it out of them?

He hasn't been too accurate with WC though?

Simmo walks to NM and takes no monetary compensation from WCE, instead we pay for Noble's severance payment.

May need to remind everyone that AFL clubs only need to pay out 6 months of a coach's contract maximum if they are sacked (correct me if I'm wrong).
What would be the point of a 3 year contract then? I'd think it would be a negotiated severance payment taking into consideration length of the contract still outstanding and salary from any future job.
But I don't know.

God know the players at North need some of Simmos TLC

Friends. Family. Fun

Flags arent an option at the moment so I dont know how he will sell it to the players this time. Noble has broken their spirits but Simmo can help to rebuild the boner spirit amongst the group.

Help me out here but isn't this exactly what the majority are advocating for Simmo???
Nisbett and Vozzo i understand and get it.

Simmo is not a failed coach but he has been at the club a long time. If the club and him agree to part ways I would hardly say that is throwing him to the trash, he will almost certainly get another gig.
Coaches almost always end up leaving not on their own terms, that’s just footy.

I think you know I am talking about blokes like Knights, Voss etc. Voss has been given another chance and seems to be going well although it’s early days.
I Would be very surprised if Knights was ever offered another senior gig with the right list that he also would perform well.

But I don't know.

It was brought in to save clubs like GC and GWS from themselves and payouts I believe. I guess the contract is there as symbolic and as Miguel Sanchez the 6 months clause probably still needs agreeing to by the coach themselves.

Sadly there are plenty of miserable sods on this board taking away the success of the coach of 2018.
I think a big concern is the inability, proven over a long period now - as 2019 was also rife with it - of Simmo to get the team up for consecutive games.

I was pretty happy with last week's game. Melbourne are a much, much better footy side than us at present but the 22 blokes who ran out had a proper crack.

This week it was back to jogging, guarding grass and a lot of half hearted arm thrown out tackles. We didn't defend. Sure getting over 40 points was nice but I think any other side in the league would have beaten the team GWS put out. We got put to the sword by 9.goals.

Why can't our players front up for blocks of committed footy at a time? Good teams have the odd off day for sure, it seems impossible for any group to stay laser focussed for 22 rounds but WC are basically the complete opposite of the desired ratio.

I have no doubt that every first grade ammos player holds themselves and their team mates to a higher standard than what is currently accepted as the norm at Lathlain.
Perhaps what the players need is a Psych to get into their heads and try and sort this out lol. Being serious there has to be a reason why we have gone from diamonds to lollies in just 4 years🙁!
