What Simmo has to himself is the horrible home record. No coach, even the worst we’ve ever had, with the worst teams have been so pathetic playing at home. Winning against the eagles in Perth used to be considered hard, now it’s a formality
What Simmo has is a brand new oval that NO other coach has played on. It has the same dimensions as the MCG and we do not train there.
We might play on it every second week but it takes time to turn a brand new ground into a fortress.
Subi was our fortress because we played it's dimensions better but Optus with it's MCG dimensions feels just like home to most Vic clubs.
Combine this with our slide down the ladder then of course our HGA dissolves into thin air. Your argument is baseless.

It has the same dimensions as Lathlain.

We were 34-8 there after the Richmond win last year.

Since then we’ve been shithouse wherever we play.

That is the truth of it. When a club is on the slide (which every club must do....unfortunately) we lose everywhere.
It won't take us long though, we were hated by our supporters in 2010 wooden spoon days but climbed up off the canvas after a few years.

We made the prelim in 2011. That's a fair climb off the canvas :tearsofjoy:

The bloke is hurting alright. Not sure how much longer you would try and keep it up tbh. He's on a hiding to nothing if the players have, as it appears, checked out on him.

The pressure he is under must be phenomenal.

He has kept his private life...Private. But setting your life up in a new state, building a new home in City beach, i believe, and sending the kids off to school must make it hard to face what he is facing now.
I feel for the guy and his Family and that is why i aint gonna call for his head. Hope he proves the critics wrong and makes a good go at it.
The string of broken marriages and family at Senior coaching levels must be horrendous.

Definitely. I'm surprised there aren't more single coaches. It seems like you really have to dedicate your whole life, so I'm not sure how they had time to get married and have kids anyway.

I think to alleviate some of the pressure the club needs to come out and announce a club-wide review.

You can guarantee the coach his position and still say that we'll be reviewing every level of operations. Keep it in house and if the review shows that Simpson isn't the man or a break would be good for both parties, they can spin it as Simpson not wanting to follow through on the rebuild.

Because really, the problems at West Coast are far bigger than the coach and at the moment he's being left as the only focal point to direct ire.

There's a ton of good schools in North Melbourne.

The W-L this year will be interesting to keep an eye on in terms of club record. Currently 1-9, already lost to our fellow easybeat, wins are a kind of fantasy that can be snuffed out very quickly. We'd have to 3-9 from here and lift around 13% to clear 2008. Of course, we've never finished 17th or 18th either, but the spoon holds less shame for us in 2022, as it wouldn't be our first (2010), it isn't our steepest fall (2008), and we are so far off it right now that 16th would be a fluke finish from here.

1989: were 2-13 with 72%, 14th from 14, clear bottom two, then won the next three fairly comfortably against 9th, 11th and 13th. Finished 7-15.

2001: were 2-10 with 60%, going into the last round our only wins were against the rest of the bottom 4. Finished 5-17.

2008: were 2-14 and 0.3% off bottom before that tall-mids type win against the Saints. Finished 4-18, clear bottom 2.

2010: started with 3-5, but slow starting Hawks and Crows were below us, and then the baby Tigers. Went 1-13 in the remaining matches, the only win that massive LeCras bag. Finished 4-18. But compared to 2001 and 2008 I felt like we were an honest tryer that year (easier to appreciate) and a little hard done by to finish last compared to some other spoon sides. 74.7% in Round 14 was the lowest our percentage got.

Those first two were coach killers and Woosha being a flag-winning favourite son survived a 3-year rebuild. Simpson wouldn't survive that long. The current blowout formline would need to change, we haven't won at home in exactly 10 months, and some development positives would need to be evident by year's end (which isn't easy with some youngsters on the lti list).

Scraped into the 8 in Wooshas first season of 2002, got belted by the Bombers in first week of finals. Same scenario really for 03 & 04, beaten easily in first week, before the obvious success of 05/06.
That just shows we need to finish top 2 to have a chance really.

I know we won in 92 from 4th but that was different rules

Caro's called it. Normally has pretty good info

I think she's joining some dots, to be honest. She's got mail on the Kangas being all upset about the coach yelling at them, so she thinks Noble is a dead man walking.

Who is the logical replacement to sell hope to the fan base? Favourite son Adam.

I'm not sure our club push him out the door during a tumultuous period. Some stability is required and anyone coming in to take over Simmos job knows they're just a caretaker to weather the storm while we load up on kids before replacing them with a more proven coach to have a premiership assault.

Given that's how I see it play out, I think Simmo is the man to weather the storm a little longer and would've expected Norf to keep Noble around in a storm weathering capacity a bit longer. He's 1.5 seasons in.

The media absolutely froth over the coaching musical chairs so they drive a lot of the rhetoric around discontent which eventually builds into fan outrage. It would be very minnow of Kangas to flick Noble this early. Keep him around and keep loading up on picks then grab Simmo to aim for the promised land.

That's the problem with media, they need to be heard to justify their jobs (and their existence) and if they are wrong it will be buried in next weeks sensational news. (where's the face palm emoji Chief)
