Telling it how it is is not being negative. It’s the facts.. you can’t hold these blokes for ever in a day because they won something half a decade ago. They have been well paid in that time so the club owes them nothing.

That's right. They played football in exchange for fame and fortune. There is no lingering handshake. Once there is, we start questing merit based selection.

A very interesting “new” poster
Debate the topics and ideas presented rather than engaging in slander. I'm entitled to raise valid criticism as long as it's accurate and on topic. As I said, people's memories of what occurred throughout 2017,18 are likely blurred given the time and whitewashing that occurs after a premiership win.

Simpson came out only a week ago saying that they wanted to respect cripps and co, and allow them the opportunity to return for the last handful of games, rather than take picks in the mid week draft. I'm not advocating for recruiting last years' rejects, although this isn't the mindset of a rebuilding coach. He's clearly got friendships that he can't look past. Watch videos of him 9 years ago and you can see he no longer possesses the energy needed. If he can regain this, fantastic but he needs a mindset change quickly.

This is ludicrous. Jai Culley is on the LTI already... that's at least one spot. Jamie Cripps is currently listed as 9-10 weeks away... that puts him at best, available for 3-4 games at the end of the season. Seems kinda pointless? Besides, Isiah Winder is currently listed as 7-9 weeks away... and let's be honest, even if he's fit, probably won't get a game unless we are seriously desperate. He's delist material anyway. Why not put him on the LTI as well, and open up another spot?

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but West was selected with our second pick in a mid-season draft... and while he's hardly a superstar, he's been a regular contributor since being drafted.

“Slander” hmm ok 😆

Absolutely, valid criticism - there is no shortage of things to be critical about and question, absolutely.

Going back to 2018 is somewhat odd and I’m not sure as to how accurate your criticisms are, seems a lot of subjective opinions, but hey it’s a free forum 🤷‍♂️

Including yours?
It may well be but I distinctly remember lecras being carried through the best part of 2 x seasons. Small forwards don't exactly have a reputation for contributing in the twilight years, so if lecras was still a solid contributor, it would have been out of the ordinary. I only raised this as it shows a trend of what appears to be Simpson having a hard time being cut-throat with the senior players.

LeCras didn't start forward in 2018, he started the CBDs off the defensive end of the square and ran through the middle.

They name it the 'spitter' role. He would then play forward during general play but would often push up around the ball.

He didn't play small forward like back int he day, when we already had Rioli & Ryan playing as the deeper forwards.

Still managed over 30 goals in each of his last 2 seasons. You guys would’ve given him a 4 year deal on the back of that down at Cockburn.

Not against the idea although he would still need input with list management and draft decisions?

While I agree they should open up a second position I suppose its difficult to force a player to be out for the year. It would potentially effect their income from match payments. It needs to be mutually agreed I think.

I don’t think that Lecras was carried in 2018. He played injured and probably should have been dropped or rested more in the prior year though.

Not a bad idea, at least they’re trying to do something. Gives him a fresh outlook for 2024 and I would suppose a final chance to get some improved results out of what will be a vastly different list.

Glen Quartermain has been hammering this point this last week or so. Clearly we’re starting to see a trend, the reduced soft cap has gutted forty department resources and the head coaches are the ones who are suffering and burning out.

I dunno what to make of that TBH. Will that hinder our prep and start of preseason?
It really shows that he's burnt out. Why do we feel the need to carry him? He's in a prestigious, highly paid position that many would give their arm for. Let the next ambitious coach have a go if simpson is cooked. I'm not against Simpson but these are red flags.
