From memory we had a good first half of 2019 but then NN did his knee and then the injuries started.
To me that says a lot.

Nic did his knee in the back half of 2018 (R17) before the GF and then didn’t return until late in 2019 (R15)

Our significant injury issues as a collective didn’t start until the second hub of 2020 when we played 5 games in about 20 days. It’s been endemic since then

Played 3 games then missed the rest of H&A before returning for finals

Thanks Keys, always a source of good info👍

I am chuckling with that prick in Melbourne called Barrett. He goes on the record each time saying he does not like the way coaches are treated. As a hypocrite that he is, he has led the calls for Dew and Simpson to be let go.

There are times when I would dearly to whack some sense into him - just 2 minutes would be enough.

Whatever happens though he’s retained his dignity and has given his all to the club. Handled himself very well in todays press conference I thought.
Absolutely. Dignity - that’s it. Can’t imagine Malthouse, Dimma, Bevo etc etc etc indulging such continuously inane questions. Sure he’s been a bit short at times with post match Qs but he’s never once lost it. Has handled himself well all things considered.

Go to about 9 minutes in the above interview :p

I’ve no issue with people who think Simpson should be moved on but I really do hope he gets to stay and at least see the team trending upwards over the next 2 years (and beyond)

My Favourite bit was him explaining that part of his role is to explain to the (idiots in the room) press that they are transitioning and are a development team so wont win every week and there will be blow outs.

Love the bloke. Whether it's time to move him on or not he always carries himself with dignity.

Imagine having to sit in front of the people who have spent all week publicly championing for you to lose your job and have to keep your cool while answering their direct questions about whether you believe you will or should keep your job.

I'm a pretty reasonable person but I suspect after one to two weeks of that I would be flipping tables.

Wouldn't hurt for the players to pull up their socks and compete this weekend. Take a bit of the heat off their coach.

Say what you will about Simmo but he has taken every spear thrown at him from the media and been pretty unshakable. This has been the worst season I've experienced as a WCE fan but I respect his ability to shoulder the amount of pressure on the team and still front up and present in a good manner.

That's why they kept him on in the position. We didn't publicly declare we were going into a rebuild but behind closed doors you'd better believe the alarm bells were ringing.

He could have easily handed the keys to a noob and chased success elsewhere but he decided to help the club through what was projecting to be a very rough road. Imagine this same media speculation and scrutiny on someone fresh out of assistant coaching school.

Wouldn’t hurt for the chairman to come out and say they will be conducting a review once the season is over and that any decision on Simpson’s future won’t be made until then

That’s not controversial as it’s likely the truth and there’s no point saying he has the full support of the board because that won’t be believed even if it is true

At least it would remove the speculation prior to the Adelaide game when the focus should be on our retiring greats

Then announce the decision to keep him as coach or not post season when a frank and honest assessment has been completed

The silence has been deafening for sure. We hit the media immediately following rumours that Hewett had hurt his leg at Captains run but now the coaching landscape has supposedly shifted and Simmo might be out of a job - crickets?

If it wasn't the reality they would have hosed it down by now. Unfortunately Simmo has tripped over his own shoelaces on this one as he's the one who started asking questions around the club. Someone has then leaked that to the media and here we are. Must be troubling for him that he's intended to sure up his future one way or the other and they haven't given him a date they they'll commit to discussing it.

An excerpt from the Herald Sun Jon Ralph.

"Simpson admitted the club’s onfield fortunes could be just as challenging next year as the club ponders a difficult call on drafting brilliant Vic Country teen Harley Reid in November.

Reid liked a social media post this week questioning the future of Simpson in a move that put the spotlight on his intentions in coming months.

Those close to Tongala mid-forward Reid on Friday said he had meant nothing by the social media “like” about Simpson, which was a story from Footy Classified about Simpson potentially being sacked.

They suggested Reid was still happy to be taken by West Coast as the No.1 overall pick.

Reid’s manager Nick Gieschen and his Bendigo Pioneers coach Danny O’Bree have both denied he ever suggested he would not be drafted by the Eagles."

I notice we didn’t get Trev’s review of the game on Monday. He only saves that for games we’re competitive in.

If Simmo is also involved with two Hungry Jacks franchises, doesn't that seem over-reach for a footy coach, like a conflict of interests or too much going on to fully focus on footy? I guess franchises run themselves and he probably has an appointed manager/bean counter to take care of it. Footy players also have side businesses.

He's a silent partner, just collects profits.

Laughable to think he has any input in the business, just let's his accountant do the numbers.

Sorry to butt in but if I owned the Eagles I would be getting rid of Nisbett and the list management staff way before Simpson.

Adam has proven he can coach but has been let down bigly by others at the club.

Liked for your use of Bigley. 🤣

I think it's hard not to like the guy. He carries himself so well as you say and I am sure deep down he is hurting but sometimes you just wouldn't know.
No matter what happens and I am firmly in the camp to move him on I have no doubt he will be held in high regard forever within our club.
