Why exactly?

Because he has not exactly been a great developer of young talent, and more importantly if the club does not believe Simmo will be there long term then it's best to get these new young kids career off to a start with a new coach who is just as excited as they are.

Because he wants Simpson gone.

You try and make it sound so personal, it's just a football club to me. It's a business and I don't believe he is the right bloke to take us forward from here.
I don't hate Simmo, couldn't be further from the truth. Just don't think he should be retained as coach.

It seems such an issue for some of you this?

It seems such an issue for some of you this? Do you guys have a WCE quilt cover or something?
We're not looking for a development coach we're looking for a Premiership coach.

I remember the same narrative around Worsfold and developing players. What our players needed then was a fresh set of eyes and new ideas. Maybe the size of Simpsons salary is a bigger issue than his ability as a head coach.

Ok.

Can we NOT go around and around in circles.

Thank you

I have no doubt the size of his salary is the only issue, he would of been removed quite some time ago otherwise. The bolded bit you typed is spot on. A new start.

I will be very disappointed if Simmo get's sacked.

I really believe he has a lot to offer as a coach and has a game plan that will be competitive against anyone.
They have been working on this game plan/style for a couple of years now but this unprecedented injury run has made it impossible to fully implement.
And to all you who are sick of using injuries as an excuse it isn't JUST the injuries. It is the flow on effect when you only have half your actual playing list available. Putting pressure on for spots, being able to do proper match sim training etc etc.

Sack him and bring in a new coach who will have his own new ideas that the players will then need to adapt to and learn and suddenly it will be 3-4 years or more before we are back competing.

You are aware a game plan can be implemented in a pre season? It's not like studying to be a brain surgeon.

This is a nonsense argument.
When he took over at the end of 2013 going into 2014...

McGovern - 0 games played
Barrass - 0 Games Played
Crippa - 32 games total (incl saints games).
Hutchings - 9 games played
Sheed - 0 Games played
Yeo - 27 games played (all for Brisbane, none for WCE yet).

Then we started hitting finals and getting crappy draft hands so the hits slowed.

There was Cole, Duggan, Rioli.. Also not including players that had just hit 50ish games of which there were a few as well.

Plenty of evidence to show he can develop players that come in.
Just because the next period was contending for finals and the draft hands got poorer doesn't mean that he can't develop new players that come in.

Cox and Pyke - surprise surprise
Schofield on the podcast today said 100%+++ Cox will not be at WCE and that he will be coaching Swans within 2 years.

So adamant he was I reckon it came from Cox himself.

No but apparently it needs a brain surgeon to understand that you need to consistently train it in season, which WCE haven't been able to do for 2 years now, as well as have regular players consistently on the park in games to be able to actually try to implement it.

Mcgovern, Barrass,Yeo were simply good footballers. Didn’t matter what club or coach they had they would be good players. Cripps has become a good player under Simmo.

We all get we have had injuries and not been able to train together much if at all. But they are not an under 14’s group. These are AFL players. On a given day they should be able to be moved and asked to do foreign roles without much trouble.
Why is everything so complicated these days

What a cop out.

If the player is any good, they are a natural footballer and the coach didn't develop them.
If the player isn't any good then the coach sucks at developing them.

Ever played AFL at the top level?

I have never said that, others have. In fact I gave Simmo plenty of credit when we won. I also think he is a good coach and will coach successful at another club.
Sorry, thought you were about to go down the regular trope of attributing any success of Simmo's to the assistant coaches.

Nope, absolute nonsense. You are just another in a long line of there is always an excuse for the Eagles crew.
But your statement was ridiculous.

- Club didn't develop good players, they'd have been good players anyway.

And

-So many players not up to it, club sucks at developing players.

Why even bother with coaches and players if the players should be good enough to work it out on gameday and just be 'good' players if they're up to it?

Nope, have you. Played and coached plenty however at a pretty solid level. Not an expert but I yhink I know footy pretty well.
Yeah well I'm sure it's very different at the top end.

If none of us have played/coached at AFL level before, then none of us are qualified to say how simple/complicated the step up is.

It'd be like someone making $100 at a hot dog stand telling you how to make a million bucks starting a fast food chain.

Not even remotely qualified for it.
