Traded Adam Treloar [traded w/ #28 to Collingwood for #7, #65, 2016 first rounder]

Has been a terrific club man and deserves to play on his own terms whether it be here or elsewhere. I have a feeling that this story will slowly unravel over the next few weeks and he will look to move on. Selfishly, an opportunity presents itself to Collingwood to reinvest in the draft to rebuild its underachieving midfield.

I’d hate to see him go, out of all our mids he has a point of difference on the outside. If he frees up cash I still hope we don’t overpay our other players like De Goey.

I would trade both Treloar and De Goey.

Gold Coast will pay overs for Treloar and De Goey is way too expensive for his output.

I think you’re right about this unraveling over the next few weeks. Clubs always look to put a spot fire out initially. But being apart from his partner and child won’t be easy especially with a very young child.

Not the Lions, please.
I would think Suns would be more likely and a better fit, would have more cap room, more trade assets and a bigger need for an experienced midfield head to help guide their youngsters.

Brisbane to Gold Coast is about an hour apart so they can park themselves just on the outskirts of Brisbane or Gold Coast and its a pretty manageable commute either way.

Yep, going from being surrounded by Collingwood supporters to living in Logan would make it a super easy adjustment

Pies saying he is staying. I would be shocked if he would be ok to watch his new born grow up via zoom.

I don't particularly want to descend this thread into social politics, but almost everyone is suggesting the child would go with her... Is it not feasible that Adam and both of their families take care of the child? She only has a 10 month contract with Brisbane, it wouldn't exactly be for huge money either.

Are both of their family units not located in Melbourne? Would she even be breast feeding if she is an athlete?

But if she is contracted for only one year, what happen if she moves back to Melbourne the following year?
Just keep asking for trades?
I do find it odd that the Netball contract worth an average of about 67,000 per year (let's say she's a star and is on 100k) would take precedence over Treloar's contract worth about 800k a year and with far greater commercial opportunities at the Pies.

I'm not sure the situation here, maybe they will just make it work?

I think its more about she wants to play for the diamonds and the firebirds are her best route to doing that. Once she achieves that i assume she would leave the firebirds in 12 months and probably come back to vic...which would be partly why he wont seek a trade at this time imo.

I think it’s about her being allowed to pursue her dreams rather than money.

No one's saying she can't, there are 8 Super Netball teams, 2 of them based in Melbourne, one of them is literally a Collingwood Magpies team.
Potentially no relocation required and all the commercial benefits of keeping Adam at the Pies and the least disruption to their family as a whole given they are already based in Melbourne.

No correlation there though, the Diamonds roster for the Constellation Cup had representation from 7 different clubs including 5 players from Melbourne based teams (1 from Collingwood). There's no reason she couldn't make the squad playing for either the Vixens or Magpies if she's good enough for national level.

It does seem strange that she signed for non vic team. I assume she could have played for one of them. Or maybe she had no other offers.
As someone mentioned, if it’s a one year deal then perhaps they’ll see out through as he won’t ask to be traded each year depending on where she is playing. But I don’t think this is the last we’ll hear about it.

Look paid slightly overs at the time and it was a risk. If we knew he would tear both strings we would have gone to the draft

As a neutral I don’t think you paid overs at all. Treloar was a set and forget A grader for the best part of 10 years and you pay up for that.

The hamstring injuries are unfortunate but they haven’t stopped him playing great footy. It’s more a continuity thing.

Still think it should of been a first and second. Although we would of thought we improved with him in the side but unfortunately Swan got cut down with injury so Treloar just kept us from going backwards
