If Walsh can get through the first two years without a self-explosion, I reckon he will mature into a good coach...
But I don't think he will last the distance with his evangelical mind set. Players will soon look for the exit.

Hinkley acknowledges Polec and White are carrying niggles but they'll be fine to play.

Walsh and Walker say they know how to beat Port. Maybe Walker can tweet the plan pre-match.

I remember way back in the early days at the Power when Walsh was allowed some responsibility, we were playing Geelong in a game to shape our finals hopes. Walsh looked down the camera gun barrel straight and also then boldly declared we could beat Geelong because we had something they didn't ... pace. Geelong beat us by 85 points and Walsh was never allowed near the camera again.

Walsh / Tex
"we have a plan"
"we know how to beat Port"

I hope they're not basing this on our NAB cup game.....actually I hope they are.

Oh you mean the 'Summer Showdown'?

Despite having ten years of intelligence on choco and port when he left to be the tactical mastermind at west coast - they still only managed one win from five against us under chocos remaining time at port (despite how bad we were). His inside knowledge helped little then.

If they beat us tomorrow it's not because he has inside knowledge, .....

It's never up to the coach when they leave Adelaide, it's always the players' decision. They even brought Blight down. #malcom

Walsh has to understand the Adelaide culture of be good enough to stay adored but not too good to have the responsibility of maintaining sustained performance. Saddo got way ahead of himself and had to be sorted out.

Everyone has a plan I'm sure Carlton did last night too, the he-man talk in the media by Walsh will wear so thin I'm glad Ken doesn't carry on like that.

I was just having this conversation with my wife over our morning coffee. Watch the presser and the contrast between the personalities is stark. Ken speaks a positive language of encouragement and and has a natural openness about him. Philthy seems aggressive, secretive and ready to explode at any moment. It's almost like he's trying to scare the players into performing. Just a layman's view from the outside.

That article about his plan refers to a tactic they used in the NAB challenge of putting 2 players on the mark. Law 16.1 allows for only one player and specifies the protected 5 metre zone.

Unless I am reading an outdated rule book that should be 50 meters every time??

Cannot understand the Walsh hate here. No doubt he will be infected by the Crows' sense of entitlement over time, but at the moment all I see is a coach who is trying to do his best to change the culture there, with a list that is presently lacking some depth players.

We all knew he would have some issues media wise, and he doesn't appear to be doing too bad a job at it, and certainly not a campaigner like some are suggesting.

Personally I see him as quite a good coach who is doing a good job with what he has available.

And I want to see his team get crunched by at least 10 goals on Sunday. We need the percentage.
He lost all good will the second he signed the contract. Could have gone anywhere else with good wishes from all. Campaigner of the highest order.

I saw what he was doing in the trial game and wondered why frees weren't being paid.

Let's just move on from the Crows, why even think about them as anything other than one of 17 rivals, win lose or draw there is another game next week. They despise Port because they live in the past. Let's just worry about what we have to do and be thankful we are not in Catltons shoes, or Richmond.... St Kilda.... Etc...
Agreed. These games lose alot of there sting when we are after bigger fish. Just personally they stress me more when we are going shit and just need something to hang our hat on. Not the case now.

I think Tex should just stick to playing football

Then you should have said you were using two games from last year as the reason why our crowds are lower this year.
I didn't say ours, I said both teams.

Make no mistake, we are doing well but due having a contract based on last year's crowds that would have included a novelty factor we cannot sit on our laurels.

The "crowd" test will come when we play the so called lesser teams in bad time slots. Same goes for the other mob.

Walsh has the perfect personality for the hard arse 2IC. The one the coach lets chew out / ride the under performers when required, but not all the time.

The corporation is selling 3 game Crows membership as the only way to go to the showdown. They are selling them outside the gate tomorrow
