AFL intervention a possibility given key powerbrokers refuse to resign

ricciuto is on the corporate ladder so the afl will probably just hand them a shitload of free picks, comp and the softest draw imaginable next year. nicks has been assigned as the fall guy. they'll sack him next year, get a small dead cat bounce and be back to the same old mediocrity in just a few short years of humiliation

So I thought a few weeks ago that it would be funny to redo the old "Carlton ex forwards" thread, this time with Adelaide ex-players.
Turns out it's not so funny.

The fish rots from the head.

If Chapman really wanted to do the right thing he would resign immediately.

What other Chairman has survived 2 major scandals?

Need to a cleanout off & on field.

Also, we were making some progress until selection yesterday when we brought back in non-performing older players who once again proved they don't give a sh*t.

Priority should be to play the deadwood in the 2's & play the younger guys as should be in rebuild mode not preservation mode.

You can almost be certain that the reason Nicks got the job was that he pissed in Chapman, Roo and the rugby guys pockets and told them that he could do something with this current list. The only way those 3 were gonna save their job was if they patched things up and won 6 or 8 games.

Hence why Nicks is locked into trying to do what he promised his desperate employers.

lets not do revisionist history here and pretend richmond were some incredible force. they were the running joke of the competition since 1983 for a reason
We have won more premierships in the last few years than you have won in your existence.

Youll learn soon, every AFL club has a down period, what counts if you can add to the premiership tally when you are up and about. And Richmond certainly have, you blokes? History of choking in the big leagues.

Wow, congrats for finally being relevant in the big league

30 years of being a running joke and have managed to capitalise on a good period with 2 flags. its good but doesn't quite tip the scales

Fitzroy in 96' didnt even have a set of plastic goal posts.

The kind of wealth adelaide has, the opportunities theyve had, the decisions the footy dept have made, far surpass the ineptness of Fitzroy.

That still doesn't make it the "season ....worse than Fitzroy in 96." That's yet to be determined.

12- 1 is the count

2-1 in the AFL era

You are irrelevant. You aren't a blimp on our radar, we don't want a rivalry with Port thanks. You're welcome for Jay Schultz

Maybe if they didn't have the whole SA media boys club as ambassador's the higher ups would start to be questioned.

They need fresh people on their board and in other powerful positions at the club. They need fresh eyes and not an ex player who employs mates into important club roles.

It a not a good spot to be in and they really need to act now to turn it around. Most clubs through the games history have gone through something like this, I see no reason they cannot turn it around quickly if the right decisions are made.

And I don't think priority picks should be given before they fix their revolving door or players leaving(like GC).

adelaide rested their entire team today in preparation for melbourne off a 4 day break. melbourne attempted the same against port adelaide and will be hoping the extra days rest sees them over the line
You might be onto something, can’t believe I was doubting them!

"We took all of their stars and ran them into the ground"

Wait, so you support Richmond AND Brisbane? Or were you talking about 0x premiership gun Paul Broderick?

Brett Burton is a textbook narcissist. Failed upwards into the football manager role at the Crows, and was so completely out of his depth in every aspect of it that IMO he is more responsible than any one other individual for the mess that they find themselves in today.

And then he had the audacity to sue the club for 'unfair dismissal'. I'm not sure there's ever been a fairer dismissal in the history of employment.
Did LOL.

We know, but we dont know how to make this happen. Going 0-17 is our best chance for Chapman and Roo to be forced to step down. If a giant meteor came down on earth and killed everyone, roo and chapman would still survive.
