You're struggling.

Players don't "choose" to move via trade. They have been nominating their club, and getting their wish in trade because clubs know the player WILL use the psd and get where they want.

Which is the opposite of what you tried to argue.

Are you deliberately difficult...

More players use trading as they know their destination. No guarantees via psd & some players have not ended up where they wanted. Surely not a difficult concept to understand...

But you get it - just carrying on like your usual self!

What are you on?

Ps I asked a while back who are these players who didn't get where they wanted in the psd?

With no club really agreeing on top 10 draft order .....the chances of us getting a good 1st rounder this year is good, if our recruiters are sharp.

Has a top 10 draft pick ever not made the AA team at the U18's championship  ................................................................Durdin?

Don't know whose draft predictions they are but if Christian Petracca isn't gone before pick 13 as this guy has predicted I'll be amazed!!

Really liked what ive seen if collier (if thats how you spell it.) From essendon. Seen a few of his games. Speedy and pretty good user of the ball. A matt white type. Dont know his age or contract status though.

Players have absolutely no control over whether or not they are traded mate. You're making a fool of yourself.

Players nominate a club. It's up to the clubs to work out a trade. The player has absolutely no control over whether that happens or not. The player's back up plan to escape their club is the PSD. If the club they are fleeing have any sense, they do their utmost to work out a trade as they will otherwise receive NO compensation for their player leaving. The trade is almost always not a good deal for the club being left in the lurch, as they have no leverage. This really isn't a difficult concept to understand. Stop making it one.

You mean how Gunston had no say in being traded and that he wanted to go to Hawthorn. ........

"I'm at the airport about to fly to Melbourne. I'm not coming back, trade me to Hawthorn. "

That Phantom Draft was an early season one. They do a later season one after the Combine I think. At the time Petracca was not proven that he could play larger stints in the midfield. Theres also a second page that doesn't appear to be there.

Yes they do.
This isn't the NBA.

Crows wanted to trade Mackay for Polec last year.
Mackay didn't want to go to Brisbane, trade didn't happen.

Players can only be traded to a club if they agree - they cannot be traded to a club against their wishes. Hence they have some control unlike you are suggesting. Further they have certainty of the outcome - unlike the psd.

As mentioned by mattrox - gunston said he was going to hawks & we made it happen.

Nick Stevens wanted to go to the pies through the trade but port said no. He then went into the psd & ended up at the blues.

Hence my point players prefer to change clubs via a trade rather than psd as there is certainty.

Keep digging with your mate Sanders if you wish...

Yep, and guess what? If the two clubs couldn't agree on a trade, he goes in the PSD, just like I said.

Players simply nominate a club. They have no control over whether or not they actually get traded.

It's clear that we've only been discussing examples in which a player has chosen to leave his current club.

Players who don't wish to leave can not be traded against their will. That is correct.

What's being argued, for some odd reason, is that players have some sort of magical power to 'make a trade happen', because they prefer the certainty of this over the PSD. All I'm saying is that the player only has the power to nominate a club of choice, and that from there onwards he has no say in whether he gets there via trade because if the clubs can't agree, no trade happens. Unsure what is difficult to understand about this...

What's the go with Brendan Goddard? Halfway through a four year deal with Essendon. Would he ask to leave on compassionate grounds? Has landed in a hornet's nest and basically f***ed up his career through no fault of his own.

Looking at a few ruckman we could target to strengthen our depth in that area and couldn't look past Sam Grimley (Hawthorn). He played three games in 2013 averaging 5 marks, 13 disposals, 1 goal and 3 inside 50's. He is a project player that has now fallen low down the list of rucks at the club. Other options are Currie and Hannath who look to be out of favor.

Must be a hard sell though. Your asking a player to come across as a SANFL player with the only hope of a game being an injury to AA quality encumbant.
