Maybe a stupid question but due to load sharing at the Crows in the ruck, shouldnt the game account for that? id say in this case, Both Riley Thilthorpe and Walker both qualify as an additional ruck. Same should go with any team really who runs with a similar positional system.

I should probably change it to ruck contests instead of hitouts now that the AFL shows that but that would have to be a rule for next year

Walker averaged 3.3 ruck contests a year last year, is that enough? Seems quite low even for a part time second ruck

Well Thilthorpe who is an actual second ruck attended 9.3 ruck contests on average which is 3x Walker. Most teams have that sort of player, which is why Walker normally wouldn't count

He would almost certainly make it on hitouts.

There were 68 players that averaged 2.0 hitouts or more per game which is nearly 4 per AFL team. Most players by chance take 3 or 4

Walker was never the Crow's 2nd ruck, though

I like the McCarthy pick - should be back pretty early in the season and a very, very good player when up and running.

I thought about McCarthy, but he's still probably going to miss the first 4-6 weeks and, with Ah Chee and Lohmann really coming along in the finals series, I feel he's going to have to work to get back into their 22.
